ok, i know this might make me look stupid, but i looked the card up on the net. i didn't see the 6 pin conector socket. i dont have a 6 pin conector or two 4 pin conectors either. if i still want to put this card in this computer i think i will have to buy a bigger power supply. do you think this would couse the problem i was experiencing ?

Check the connections and the cabling if it is secure. To ensure that the card is not the problem, you may want to try on a different monitor and different cable.

I would say yes because I had issues before with graphics cards being sensitive on power. Still your symptoms are similar to connection issues. I would suggest to try this card out on a different CPU just to save you time and the money and to be sure.

ive had a similar problem before. in the BIOS there somewhere, there is an option to make your computer use the ON BOARD VGA, or to use the PCXI. which ever one is selected is the one that the computer will use. if you can change this option in the BIOS, you might be able to use your video card.

A couple things to try. First connect a second monitor to the output of the computer to make sure that you have a valid signal coming out of the screen 2 output. If you do then connect the projector and make sure that you have selected the computer input usually VGA1 or VGA2 as your input signal. If the monitor doesn't work then you need to hit the function key on the top of the keyboard to turn on the second screen output.

If you have one of those older CRT monitors you should be able to resize the image. Some LCDs have screen shifting tools too. Try doing a full restart, too. (shutting your computer down, waiting 1 or 2 minutes, then starting it up again.)
