How to reset BIOS in dead Toshiba Satelite P105-S6177

I did a factory reinstall and couldn't get the pre configured Vista so borrowed a VIsta cd and ended up with two versions of Windows (Old and new ) and starting getting message that notebook was plugged in but not chargiing. So I have been watching the battery to be sure I shut down becfore it drains.
But it happened during a scheduled virus scan and now when I hit the power button it turns on for 5 seconds before all lights go out.
So I am trying to turn power on manually. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I want to install windows vista by dell to my laptop will it work?

You can if you have regular Windows Vista disk, do not use Dell installation cd. (borrow from a friend or ask in your local comp. store if they can make you a bootable copy)
Use Vista key from the sticker on the dell computer. Make sure after install you put all the Vista drivers for the Toshiba so everything works ok.

I have a toshiba satelite l355-s7835 it runs on vista when I start it up I get the windows loading bar and it will not load anything kept it up for hours still nothing I have tryed to hold Down the 0 key...

If your OS does not load it is most probably because windows is dead. You either have a virus or trojan or some other nasty malware. If it came with a CD just pop it in and you will be redirected to a clean instalation, if no cd. Look up in your toshiba manuel the system restore hot key, and follow the instructions

My Toshiba Satelite Laptop pre-loaded with Windows Vista Home premium is not strting in normal mode but it does start in Safe mode with networking. How to make it work?

You can use system restore and restore your computer's settings to a previous date. Please choose a date during which you know that your computer worked fine. This will remove any recently made change that had affected windows Vista in your computer

I need to know what processor ...I can upgrade a P105-S6177 Toshiba with....I need something in the 2.4 range and an upgrade video card to 256mb

You won't be able to upgrade past 2.13ghz but you can upgrade the video card no problem. Cheapest place to get one is ebay. Just ebay for "p105 video card" and a bunch will pop up.

Hope this info helps!

Oh I would search the net and even call Toshiba to verify the fastest cpu you can get. Make sure you get the model number of the CPU that will help you track it down easily. And BEFORE you install new cpu make sure you are running the latest bios firmware version before upgrade ;)

Displays no hard drive found wen installing win xp

You have to go to BIOS setup, find HDD setup, and change the value to the other one (there are only two possibilities). That will fix your problem. The problem is caused by the fact that the lap top was designed for vista, not XP. and the lap top contains SATA HDD. when installing XP pre-installation doesn't have SATA drivers, so your OS can not see the HDD. Change it in BIOS, and you trouble is gone

OS came on machine - no CD. How can I R&R hard drive?

Download Linux from PCLinux:

This works quite nice with many laptops, and I already replaced Vista with this.
Burn the ISO on a CD using Nero and boot your laptop with this.
