Most likely the regulator. they use a cable, and once that cable gets kinked or frayed it will make those noises, and eventually break Removing BMW Door Panel Replacing Window Regulator

Drivers door window makes noise but won't raise or lower and back windows won't raise or lower on either switch but passenger door window works? Can't find an obvious wiring problem

It's not a wiring problem. Rather,i think your window has slipped off the track. You will to open up the door panel to get to it and fix it.

What could be problem

1) Master power window switch on the driver door may be bad.
2) Make sure the passenger door master switch has the passenger door switch enabled. If the switch on the passenger door wont raise the window, you probably have a bad window regulator. If it raises the window then the master switch is bad.
3) If the window makes noises when you use the switch and doesn;t raise, then the regulator is bad, Check EBAY for sales, that's where you or your mechanic can find them...Chris

Passenger window does not go up or down . window fell in side of door and will not go up . when you push button there is grinding noise inside of door and window does not go up.

sounds like the hardware that holds the window to the bars which raise and lower the window has come undone (a bolt has came off) and the window is no longer attached to the lifting assembly.

while not terribly complicated, this is not a job for one with no knowledge of the mechanics of power windows... but even a stero installer should have the skill to fix this easily and cheaper than a dealer

Window won't go up. Grinding noise like grinding

The window motors for some reason have plastic gears. You can rebuild or replace them, it is just a pain. I've used Epoxy to fill in the gears where they attach, if you do that, it will last about a year, depending on how often you use it, but it only costs a couple bucks as opposed to 80-150 or more for motor.

Driver side passenger window won't raise back up

It is either the motor of the switch. Operate the switch while listening where the sound is coming from in the door. Then while you are trying to raise the window, hit the interior door panel with some force, not enough to break anything, but hard enough to contact the motor. If it is binding it should allow the window to raise. If it is trying to raise it is probably the motor.

1995 G20 van

the actual power window motor is getting old and probably needs replacement. as they age they get slower and picky about which way they want to go, outside temp also affects the operation also. in warmer weather they tend to work better

1989 ford Van passenger side power window will not raise or lower. Glass is intact, in bottom support arm, and in tracts. Motor makes sound like it is raising or lowering window but window does not move.

The problem is the power motor gear that raises and lowers the window is worn out. The motor runs, but the gear cannot engage with the gear on the window regulator.
