Connector for power cord overheats and shorts. Bottom safety screw can be undone using the bacj end of a jig saw blade.
Replace wire connectors with different wire connectors - wire nuts etc.

Have an electrician check the cord for a short circuit. It unit is under 3 years old it will be covered under Lasko's Warranty. Cord can be replaced, but it takes a special bit to take apart and know how to replace cord. You need a person you know who is Electrically and Mechanically capable for a safe repair.

It turns on, but within 5-8 seconds it makes a slight popping noise, I see a small flash and it no longer is heating. The fan does not begin turning usually. Once in awhile the fan will start, but soon...

About your Vornado space heater;

I had one of these Vornados, with a similar problem. It developed a short.

Your heater may have a "snap-disk" like the picture, or snap style thermostat and flashes when it shuts off.

You see that flash because it's nearly shorted out, permanently. When an electrical device begins to deteriorate, or go bad, there is usually some tell-tale sign and the flash is it.

The flash definately means a short one way or another. It probably got a bit overworked, the thermostat has taken on some damage.

This might be because of a worn out cord, too weak a power supply or too small of an extention cord. Avoid extention cords with space heaters.

Either the thermostat is shorting out, or there is some other short inside.

You have about a 50% chance of fixing it though, if you have some hand tools, a soldering iron and electrical solder.

You'll need to diagnose the bad part, order it and replace it. These are tedious heaters to repair for a novice, but usually repairs will give extra life to an otherwise useless machine.

But then again, we don't know the problem exactly yet. Do we?

Step one; decide to diagnose or dispose of the unit.
Step two; order the parts or make appropriate repairs.

Luck to you.

Hi, I have the Lasko Ceramic Elements heaters. When I plug it in, the light lights up to show it's plugged in, but when I try to press the POWER button turn it on, it beeps but does not do start heating...

If I am getting this right you just purchased this heater? I would return it and get another one. It sounds like the tip over switch is not made and will only show that power is getting to it but the tip switch is keeping it from heating.

Fan only runs briefly after short rest repeats short run

Your proplem could be caused by poor air flow. Make sure all the screens on the unit are clean and free of obstrutions. Also you leave at least 4inches of free space all around the unit.

You have too many things on the circuit you are on. Either move it to a different plug, or turn some things off. A plug in heater uses as much electricity as the breaker should carry if it is a 15 amp, like most are. Try to find a plug on a different circuit, or clear some things off of it.

Absolutely no power to my Lasko 5540 heater

There is a thermal fuse in line with the power chord. Open your heater housing up and trace the power cord. It is located inside a white teflon sleeve. Locate the fuse and either replace it with the same value. Appliance repair shops will have them in stock. If you want heat right away, cut out the fuse and jumper the 2 wires together. Instant heat.

Poping, smoking electric Lasko 5540 heater

It depends on where the smoke is coming from. If it's from the heating elements, it's normal as dust and residue burn off. If it is coming from the control section, it's bad and the heater should not be used.
