Question about Panasonic NN-S561 Microwave Oven

1 Answer

Microwave stops after 3- 4 seconds

The labour (Canadian spelling) cost alone for someone to repair a microwave would be more than the cost of a new one. I'm going with junking it though I hate this "planned obsolesce" we're forced to live with.

I have this microwave and the door handle has broken off. Do you know where I might find a replacement handle? I love my microwave and prefer it to the newer ones available.

most parts are cheaper on ebay search on the model type. going to dealers is expensive. plus they dont encourage fixing your own, but labour costs makes it to costly so repair yourself or get a new one. i'd go search ebay for parts

I need a new door latch and upper latch micro switch. Where can I get these? Thanks

try online, but the cost will be prohibitive, cheaper to buy a new 1, you can get an all singing and dancing 1 from supermarket for less than 40, we are in a throwaway world now, cost of repairs out weighs replacement, the labour alone is 75 an hr.

I have a maytag built in microwave MMV4205BAW from August 2006. The microwave runs but does not heat and makes a slight buzzing sound. It sounds like the magnetron needs to be replaced. If this is not...

From the description it is the magnetron, it will be expensive for the part alone, and keep in mind shops have different rates making impossible to give exact quotes, but I would estimate parts and labour at least $250.00 or more, if you decide to go with the repair make sure the magnetron is not a aftermarket product it will last about 6 months.

My sharp carousel II microwave no longer heats food. Do I need to buy a new one?

The problem maybe the magnetron, or the inverter board if 7 years old or less, and possibly the keypad control board, by the time you add parts and labour cheaper to replace the microwave oven in the long run.

Microwave doesn't heat

Could be several problems...first thing is if you don't know anything about microwaves I would suggest that you have someone qualified repair it...there are lethal voltages inside whether it is plugged in or not....that being said...it sounds like the high voltage circuit or the magnetron is defective...the cost of such a repair would exceed the cost of a new unit. Magnetron tubes are rather expensive these days and labor rates are though the roof. If this unit costs under 100.00 I would suggest getting a new one...anyway...there is a fuse located inside that you can check...if it is ok then I would steer towards a bad triac/scr or relay that controls the magnetron. Again, please don't mess with the High Voltage components unless you feel that you are qualified to do this

The microwave not heating the food ck fuse ok

If the microwave is not heating and isn't caused by it being in a strange mode then this usually means that either the magnatron or the power transistors have failed. Either of these are repairable but the repairs are not that cheap. So the repairs can cost more than a new microwave. The power transistors are worth about $5 and then you might get charged say $75 for labour. So the question then is if it is cheaper to fix it or replace it with a new one. If you have a higher end one that is worth more then it can be worth fixing. If it is a lower cost unit then just replace it. Get an repair estimate first and know what a suitable replacement costs and use that as your guide for what to do.

You can find appliance repair shops either from stores or contact Kenmore(Sears) to see if they have a repair depot near you.

Kitchenaid model KCMS1555Rss-2 microwave will not heat would like to replace those parts which fials the most often

The cost of parts and labour is in generally in excess of the cost of a new machine. Apart from running the risk of killing yourself or someone else by attempting repairs yourself, microwaves are basically a throw away item - regardless of the original price paid or a quality brand name.

(Note - there can still be very nasty voltages inside the machine even tho its turned OFF)

Microwave lights up plate turns something hums inside but the inside of the microwave never produces heat.

Sounds pretty normal but the inside is not supposed to get hot - only the food is.

Try heating a half glass of water for 1 minute if it gets hot... its working - if not then the actual microwave generating device inside has probably died.
In that case buy a new microwave oven as the cost of parts and labour to repair is usually more than cost of buying a new one.,
