Re: Turns on then turns right back off after 2 seconds

I had finally had enough of the various problems as got to the point where even after fully charging the battery would last probably 10 mins before claiming low battery or draining itself on boot up. Ordered a new power cell for the unit from ebay (around £7 inc P&P) and ALL problems are corrected no boot delay or lying low battery claims or drains. Hope this helps a few others and saved them their sanity and money!

Zen Nomad Xtra - to go to Rescue Mode do the following:
1. Insert a pin into the small hole on the left side of the player
below the volume adjustment switch.
2. Hold down the Play button on the right side of the switch
3. Rescue Mode Menu will appear
4. There are 4 Options available, but best option to fix most
problems is reformat hard drive.
5. Reformat is very fast
6. Turn off and reboot.
7. Problem solved.

if you can get into recovery mode most likely bad hard drive

Stereo turns on shuts off after few seconds

This is a bad power supply. You have to do some serious work at the component level of the unit to fix it.

Does not charge or play,read on computor

In order for the Coby to charge while connected to the computer or other charger, the Coby must be OFF before being connected to the computer. Check the following questions....

Can you see it in "My Computer"? It will show under "Removable Drive/Storage"

Double click the removable drive to open the folders. Can you see your music, photo and photo folders?

Can you see the player in Coby Manager - under the "DEVICE" tab?

When disconnected from the computer, how long can you listen to the Coby player before it goes off?

If not present in My Computer or in Coby Manager, then it is not plugged in correctly.
a. Disconnect the player from the computer.
b. Wait for it to cycle through "Please Wait" and "Updating Library" screens.
c. Make sure the player is TURNED OFF
d. With player TURNED OFF, reconnect wire to the player then to the computer.
e. You will see a USB connector icon on the player screen and the player charging in the battery area - upper right hand corner.

It will appear to be charging all the while it is connected to the computer. After it has been plugged into the computer for an hour, it should be well charged unless the battery is completely run down. In that case, you need to do an initial 8 hour charge with the player OFF.

f. Use the Coby Manager to disconnect the player (Found HERE CobyMedia Manager fix for MP822 (Windows XP/2000/Vista)

1. Go to the DEVICE TAB
2. CLICK on EJECT Button in lower right hand corner.
3. It will have a pop-up screen to ask "Do you want to eject?" Click YES.
4. The second pop-up screen will tell you "The device can now be safely removed from the system."
5. The Coby will now show "Please Wait..."
6. It will take the Coby about 10 minutes on the "Please Wait" screen and then on the "UPDATE the Library" screen - Be PATIENT

You should now have enough battery power to use it. To check the battery level,

1. Turn on the player
2. The battery icon is in the upper right hand corner of the screen - it is ALWAYS RED until it starts to go down... I've not had mine down very far, but believe the red line gets shorter as the battery is wearing down.

Let it run on music until it turns itself off. Recharge as above.

Hope this helps.

Mp3 player has no sound and wont shut off

Try reflashing the firmware for your device you can find the latest firmware and flashing utilities from the manufacturers website. Make sure that you back your music up first because when you do this you are setting it back to factory settings. OR Try resetting the device it?s usually a small pinhole on the back or side of the device try holding that in for about 10 seconds

First thing to try is a reset

To reset your iPod:
  • 1. Toggle the Hold switch on and off. (Slide it to Hold, then turn it off again.)
  • 2. Press and hold the Menu and Select buttons until the Apple logo appears, about 6 to 10 seconds. You may need to repeat this step.

Keeps shutting down.

The solution is found! There's no need to format your HDD
- Unplug the battery;
- Press and hold the reset button for 20-25 sec;
- Put the battery back to it's place;
- Charge your device (when you plug the cable in, it turns on (note that a blinking lightning icon appears on the charging indicator), then it turns off with it's "shutting down" message, dont pay attention on this, just let it charge for about 10-15 minutes (note that the CHG bulb won't be lit));
- Turn on your device. The CHG bulb is lit, Archos doesn't shut down
- Enjoy

Audiophase KP512 MP3 player shuts off

I have the same player and I can fix it by removing the battery and replacing it with a fresh battery. I've also found that rechargable batteries never show as being fully charged on the player, so try using a new regular AAA battery and see if that fixes it.
