My dvd 833 starts retracking half way thru disc can i source new optic unit?

Get a CD / DVD Cleaning disc from Walmart or Amazon. The laser optics have dust on them and it is refracting the light on the lower power tracking optic. The disc has little brushes.

Usually if "no disc" the optical unit in the player is either dirty or bad.

If bad cheaper to buy a new unit as individual parts are not usually sold for this type of equipment.

Either a dirty or a bad optical pickup in the unit.

The Optical head unit is faulty. The disc is not being read by the head unit laser and so conveys a wrong message which ejects the cd.
Replace the optical head unit assembly but with the correct procedure.

Before to apply BFH method as it is final and ultimate fix for these things, unplug unit from wall socket, take off top cover of DVD-CV51and clean optical lens with good quality cotton swab gently and check DVD-CV51 as dirty/ clogged optical lens does not read one disc and player go for next disc to read it and gives up after trying all discs.

You need to change the motor disc spindle

Since the optical head is not reading the data from the DVD it is hanging up and giving up the error message of No disc. What could be done is to open the set and clean the optical head with a clean swab, a good ear bud will be Ok.carefully wipe off any dirt and do it verry softly to polish the optical head. Try and again if the fault is again showing no disc, you will need to change the optical head. You are not able to change the source because the processor is hunting for the data in the cd and is occupied till it ends up. Hope you decide whether to change the head, if so be careful to remove the short on the new one and install with care. Get help if you have not done this earlier. Hope my advice helps. Good day

check the optical unit connections clean or replace your optical pickup unit

Seems optical lens of unit is causing problem of No Disc.
Clean optical lens with cleaner disc and then try to play dvd.
If still same problem, take unit to local repair shop for fix.

check the region code of the dvd that u bought...if its not according to your country region code then the dvd would play only in laptops and pc dvd drives..u can contact the service station of philips and ask them to unlock ur dvd player so dat it becomes region free..i had the same issue with my dvd player
