Question about Craftsman Garden
I have put fresh airfilter in it--checked oil- it's full...engine will start up then choke out. I have noticed when I hold primer bulb down it runs great--is this a fuel filter/dirty carb issue or what????...Could it be bad gas?...I dumped what I could get out and put in fresh fuel....
Most of the starts but dies problems are caused by dirt/water/debris in the carburetor float bowl.
You can try draining the gas out of the carburetor float bowl by removing the float bowl nut located on the bottom of the carburetor.
Make sure the hole in the float bowl nut are clean. If the problem persists after draining the float bowl nut you will have to remove, dis-assemble and clean the carb with compressed air and carb cleaner.

The engine is not getting enough gas. when you hold down the primer you are bypassing this problem. to fix this simply adjust the carb's fuel screw, located on the side of carb, a little at a time until runs smoothly.
