It is possible that the thermometer unit is frozen or shorted out not giving fridge information on it's temperature. Is everything freezing?

Subzero 532 refrig fan(& compressor) doesn't shut off

the higher the number on a fridge the warmer it is so setting it to 1 is close to 0C
when working on a fridge or freezer always turn it off at the wall
if the fridge is keep cold but not cold enough set it back to say 3
if the compressor is running and the back fins / wall is hot then the fridge is working
use a piece of paper between the door seal and the fridge edge to ensure that it is sticking to the fridge and sealing off properly

My refrigerator keeps turning off

It could be a defective defrost timer if you have lights and NO fans running nor compressor starting you maybe able to tell if it shut off about every 5-8 hrs. Now if it shut off after every cool cycle then I would tap the refrig temp control with a firm tap if the frig starts then it is a defective operating thermostat.

Frigidaire refrigerator with a broken freezer

He is correct. The temp in the refrig controls how often and for how long the refrig runs. Lets say the temp in your garage is 34 degrees, and you have your refrig set to 36 degrees: The refrig will never run, the fresh foods section will cool to 34, and the freezer will warm to 34. Even if the temp is 45 in the garage and you set the fresh foods to be 33, the refrig will not need to run long enough and often enough to keep the freezer temp cold enough. You will most likely need to have the ambient room temp at least 55 degrees to get satisfactory refrigerator performance. Insulating the refrig will not help. (by the way, outdoor beverage vending machines use an internal heater in cold weather to prevent liquid beverages inside from freezing,..... so using that info, you could put a low wattage heater in your refrig to make your refrig run enough to make the freezer section work. The %&#* with that, just move it into the house!)

The kenmore won't keep the fridge or the freezer cold and now its outer left panel gets hot when it runs and the heat extends all the way around to the doors. It has been running almost all the time,...

Check the fan in the back of the refrig , which cools the compressor , for operation or blade obstruction . If not turning to keep the compressor cool , replace the fan motor .

GE GSH25JSTASS doesn't freeze or cool

Ok, first off, replace all thermistors, freezer (2) & refrig (2). Then check that evap fan is working properly. This is a DC volt fan, not ac volt. There have been some issues with these, I would replace if problem continues.

How this box works, main control board monitors everything from how many times doors are open, how long they are open, how and when I/M drops ice, etc.... Every so many hours, depending on how many times the doors are open, you got ice thru the door, etc... it will shut down and go into defrost mode. When it is time for defrost mode it will run refrig into a "sub zero" state, shut down evap fan, run deeper into sub zero effect, shut down compressor when the thermistors say it's cold enough, turn on defrost heater that melts any frost in evap, then turn compressor back on for a few minutes, then turn evap fan back on. Most techs think that the mother board is defective when in fact the thermistors are not measuring temps correctly within the whole unit. If the thermistor say, hey mother board I'm only 60 degrees in the freezer, then it will keep running the compressor trying to get to zero or -1 or till the darn thing freezes up and stops moving air.

Find another tech to work on your unit, one that has some electronics background and/or computer knowledge. It takes a electronics & computer degree to work on these units and understand how they function.

Doors, some of the new frigs have magnetic door gaskets, if it is not staying shut, replace door gaskets. If door stay open or is leaking air (especially around ice shoot) it can cause some really weird stuff to occur, like thermistors saying I'm cold at the inlet to evap but not at the top of evap and mother board will try to correct it's self by running longer. One other thing about door gaskets, if the drain plug in the evap area is frozen or plugged up, doors won't shut properly and stay shut.

For one thousand dollars, I'll come to Florida and fix for you, 200 to fix refrig and the rest for a good time at Disney World (LOL). Good luck. Contact GE for repair on this unit if you can't get good results from your repairman. Their people, like me, go thru extensive training on these boxes. You can thank our goverment for the energy codes that have gone into effect over the years requiring mfgs to have to keep the cost of running these refrigs down as low as possible, the only way to do this was to computerize these boxes. Good luck

Whirlpool top freezer refrigerator- compressor makes a loud noise

The compressor is that black casing you see at the bottom of your refrigerator - inside this sealed case is the motor assembly which stits on 3 or 4 springs that act like a cushion - you have a little gap at the bottom where the lubricating oil is present. Your springs have likely worn out and when the compressor shuts off the assembly is banging against the rigid casing make that loud "klonk" or bang noise. It IS normal for compressor to make some faint "tick-tick-tick...tick.....tick" when shutting off, but loud banging, bell sounds, etc, means the assembly is banging on the case from the inside - you can indeed live with the noise, your compressor will function normally, probably for months, or even years - it can also keep wearing out and one day the noise might get very loud (like a very high humming noise) - There is NOTHING that can be fixed, you either pay $400+ to change the compressor or buy a new refrigerator - If you DO replace a compressor usually the replacement will be noisier - Keep a thermostat inside your refrigerator at all time to make sure your compressor is still keeping your refrigerator and freezer cool.

WHIRLPOOL NO-FROST REFRIG/FREEZR MODEL-EHT201ZKWR5

looks like operating normally...

the fridge as it reaches it's temperature shuts the compressor off and then after a few minutes..the fridge would increase temperature again and would turn back the compressor again.

its the thermostat which is cutting on and off the compressor.

and i think it is normal. based on the temperatures that you indicated..it is cooling very well..0 F in the freezer and 40 in the refrigerator... that's good.
