Disconnect the hard disk and reboot - wait for its absence to be detected then shut down the pc , reboot and go into the BIOS and make sure the AGP is enabled. Shut down the pc again, insert the new video card, connect the monitor to it then start the pc and go into the BIOS - now you should be able to disable the onboard one. Connect the hard disk and you're good to go.
you should be able to disable on board video from the bios, to enter bios when you power on the computer look at the corners of the screen it will say what button to press to enter bios.

Try the following : Go into the setup routine using the onboard video. Go to the Intergrated Peripherals. Find the onboard video and change it to disable. Save changes. Change monitor to the AGP card. I hope this helps.
