Hitachi 42" plasma 4 yrs old

I have the 55HDS52 and it flickered like crazy. The firmware was V0101.0001 and I called Circuit City and they sent a tech out with the latest fimware for my TV which is V0102.0001 and now the flicker is gone. I kept my settings all the same and watched the same reference scenes over and over and could not get it to flicker anymore. I'll post if anything changes but it seems that this worked for me. please have a look at THIS very long forum on Hitachi Plasma Noise

SD TECH i have already tried taking the lamp out and reinstalling it. It is a hitachi lamp. The old one was OLD and blew out.

If not the lamp bad (new ones sometimes fail) it may be the ballast which powers the lamp, Google the model number with ballast to see what it looks like and costs, You Tube many times will have video instructions for this as well, from that decide if you want to gamble and if you can do it or not.

Hi,

These are quite an old hard drive and they are probably pass there due date, unfortunately the only way is to replace the faulty drive, I have had these problems and after changing to the later SATA versions I have had no problems since.

You can still buy these type of hard drives but they are getting expensive now as the newer versions are the normal fitted type and the cost for the same size can be half the price. Once they become faulty they really just need to be thrown away.

Hope this helps.

Thanks

I have a Hunter model 21241 ceiling fan with circline fluorescent light. The light module is a VEB82122 (ballast "A"). This is part of switch housing assembly part number 93563-09-000. I get a dim...

The ballast is still available on the internet, just Google "veb82122." They want $37 plus shipping. You can also but a 22W Circiline ballast at Home Depot that will work for about $18. (Lowes does not carry them). The original ballast is a solid state design, light weight and instant on. The Home Depot ballast is the heavy transformer kind and a real pain to modify the bracket to make it fit. I have 8 of these Hunter fans and I have installed the Home Depot ballast on two if them so far, but I think that I will order the solid state version as a spare for the next time.

If you had the details on the old hard drive, then they are gone, what happened to the old hard drive? a data recovery professional might be able to get the details out of it but it might cost more than the new version.

TV WONT TURN ON. BLUE LIGHT GOES ON THEN THE TWO RED LIGHTS BLINK IT HAD BEEN WORKING THEN ONE DAY IT JUST WONT TURN ON.

I'm going throught the exact same thing right now. After the lights quit blinking, and the blue light goes off, does the red lamp light stay on. This usually means your lamp has gone bad ($200.00 plus). But when I ordered the lamp, it did the same thing. Had to have the certified hitachi repair man come out for the and told me it had to be a bad lamp, so I ordered a 2nd one with the same result. He came out again and had to take the TV away, later telling me the ballast must have blown when the original lamp went bad. Another $200.00 part. I haven't fought this one with Hitachi yet but am going to try. The ballast shouldn'e go just because the lamp goes out. The set is only 21/2 years old and I've already had to spend about $700.00 on the light enging replacement and now this lamp and ballast expense. Love the TV but would expect a lot less problems from a $2500.00 top model Hitachi. I'm going to see if they feel the same way, hopefully not but I'm not real optimistic they will care. Hope this helps.

Hitachi 50V710 Yellow screen

I contacted Hitachi (800-448-2244) on 02-18-09 and spoke with customer service rep. name Joyce. I explained the yellow in the middle of the screen and told here a Tech came out and said that the problem was the light engine not the light unit. She immediately said that she would send a brand new Light Engine to the repair company that diagonsed the problem. She said I would have to pay for labor. The light engine is a $1000+ part and the repair company said labor would be $300 dollars. The key is you have to say that a tech looked at it and diagonsed it as the light engine and not the light unit. Find a repair company in your area and let the customer service rep. know that they looked at it about a month ago and you can't find the paperwork. The customer service rep will then recommend a company in your area to come and look at the TV. The tech company will probably charge a tech fee $100+ dollars, and about $300 for labor, all total $400 for parts and labor is not bad when the Light Engine itself is a $1000+ part. Hope this helps.

Tv problem

It sounds like you have High Voltage arc, coming from back of set. Was there ever Horzontal lines in picture when this happen. Or did your picture ever get dark and miss some color? If any of this happen then it could be coming from High Voltage Transformer, and anodes leads coming from trans.I would say clean spark gap anode leads and make sure all are seated properly(tighten). It would help if you could have the back open and notice when the set does this to see if you see sparks and were from. Hope this helps. Remember be carefull around any Voltage.
