Question about Whirlpool ED5FHEXMQ Side by Side Refrigerator
The center strip is hot on my fridge too
When the center mullion is hot then it means your units condensor fan motor is out. the fan is located by the compressor. this fan keeps the condensor coils cooled off. if the fan is not running then the unit vents through the cabinet.

I had the same problem, and it was the condenser fan motor. I ordered mine from www.partstore.com. It was half the price of sears.
I would suggest ordering the 2 "plastic bushings" for front and back of motor. I was able to reuse mine, but for a few dollars more it's worth it.

Sounds like there is a problem in the sealed system. Remove the rear lower cover and tell me if the condenser fan is turning. While there, is the Compressor hot to the touch?
Pull the unit away from the wall and then remove the rear bottom cover. Is the condenser fan running? If it's real dirty there, unplug the unit and clean real well. In the freezer section...look on the rear wall and tell me if you see any frost building up.
Thanks Good Luck
