Question about NorStar M7310 Corded Phone

Norstar M7310 phone doesn't ring and doesn't pick up calls

I hooked up a phone in the office on an extended line from another area and all of the memory buttons automatically worked, but the phone doesn't ring even after using feature *6 selecting a ring, and pressing ok.

in addition, when i know it's ringing because of the other phones making the noise, I go to pick it up and it automatically puts me on a new line rather than answering the call. I can select the line the new call is and answer it that way, but that doesn't always work because the calls on hold look the same as new calls. what can i do to change the settings?

i want the phone to ring when someone calls and to pick up the phone and be automatically connected to the customer

How do I get to the system Administrator's login and what do I do from there?

  • gr8address Jul 01, 2009

We got the initial system many years ago, and if we had a manual, it's been lost. What we did was replace a phone that was out in the work area with a new one we hoped would work. we extended the wire and put it in the office. Something was changed in the settings while it was in the shop, but no one knows what or how to change it.

We ended up calling the phone company and they solved the problem within minutes! thanks for eveyone's help though! we just didn't have any of the items we needed to do it ourselves.

From the System Administrator's manual for your particular system. If you have one, you have the other. Or did you just go out and buy a phone and hoped it would work?

The good news is when you get it to ring, it will probably pick up the ringing line. Those functions are done from the System Administrator's login. Find those instructions and you're half way there.

You need the set the line appearances on the station. this is done in config programming. Set you station to have lines to "ring and appear"

The easiest thing to do is use Direct Pickup Feature.
When the phone is ringing dial Feature 76
Dial internal number of a phone that is ringing (also refered as extension number)
You just answered a ringing phone at your desk.

If you have login information for Feature **config, I can help you set up your phone to be ringing as well.

Cheers

Normally tech side programming
If you do not know how to program, navigate or the password call a tech.
otherwise go to Sets/Ext#/Line Access/Line Assignment, enter line # in question, press Change until you see the option you want ie.e appear only or not assigned.

Norstar M7208, it's direct line number is diverting to another ph

It could be a simple as the phone has call forwarding to another extension set up on it or the direct line could also be programmed on the other set. Does the screen on the non- ringing m7208 display "forward to:xxx" or does it display the current day and time?

Our office has 13 phones all the same. Some of the phones do not ring. I would like to get one of the phones to ring. It is a Norstar Meridian M7310

You will have to go into system programming, under sets, line appearances. You will need to set the lines on the phones to appear and ring, not just appear.

Set not ringing

When you say you are the one responsible for the programming, are you referring to programming the "physical phone" or the PBX and line cards and system functionality?

You should have an extension on your phone. Has that extension for example 222 been translated at the PBX to ring on a direct number -> (xxx) 555-1222

Or by what you are describing, you are more looking at having "shared lines" that ring in multiple locations simultaneously, and once picked up somewhere a "line lock" should be in place?

Programming a phone to pick up calls

I need more information. When calls come in, does the triangles appear on the phones you want to pick up? Do you have all the lines on the phones? Is sounds like you want only the "ringing sound" to happen on your phone, but have it appear on the others. Is this correct??
