I know you said you just changed the drive belt....but......
is it tight enough to pull tractor when you put a load on it.. in other words the belt might be just a lil too big, not big enough to eye ball but enough to slip when drive egaged... you'll have to do a finger pressure check (of course while its NOT running).

L118 JD 22 hp wont pull up 30 degree hill. Engine good . Have not changed belt. 250 hrs. Read about trany going bad. hope not. Any way to tell if its the belt or tranny?

if the belt has any cracks or missing any thing or looks bad in a spot replace it. if you are using it a lot on hills or to pull a lawn cart the belt will wear out faster. replacing the belt is cheaper than a transmission.

I have a 2004 saturn vue I changed the idol pulley because it was making that noise then changed the serpentine belt but the serpentine belt keeps on popping can u tell me why?

Belt jumping the pulley ribs?

Check for worn out crankshaft damper pulley

The big one on the bottom

Only reason a belt moves, is an alignment issue
Something wore or changed since the vehicle was made

If you changed an idler pulley because of a bad bearing & noise,
that may have been one problem

Any snapping or jumping, is loss of spring tension in the tensioner
pulley assy. Those are the ones that wear & I thought you were referring to

Hello I have a husqvarna YTH22V46 riding mower that doesn't want to move. I have changed drive belt in the spring and it worked fine but now mulching leaves the drive has slowed. I have replaced the belt...

Bleed the air out of the transmission. Pull the lever at the rear of the garden tractor and disengage the transmission. Then fire it up and press forward pedal for ten seconds, then reverse for ten seconds. Do this a total of three times, then re-engage the transmission. I had the problem you did, but after reading you had questionable success changing the belt, I read the freaking manual and saw that you should do this when it's brand new. I figured it couldn't hurt, and voila, I could pull inclines again and go much faster.

2003 dyna wide glide, after engaging clutch, upon release nothing happens

Are you saying that with the engine running, you pull in the clutch lever, put the transmission in gear, release the clutch lever, Nothing happens?

If so, Look and see if your final drive belt is still on the bike. When the belt breaks, they just run out onto the road and you have nothing to drive the rear wheel with. It'll do it and you won't notice it except that the bike will no longer move under it's own power.

Now, if the belt is still on the bike, it could be the front final drive belt pulley has gone bad. The pulley is made of cast iron and is much softer metal than the final drive gear of the transmission. As a result, the pulley wears rather than the gear. If the gear wore, the time and cost of repair would be much greater than replacement of the pulley. The splines unside the pulley where it goes on the final drive gear may have worn and stripped out.

These are the two most likely problems. Check these out and if you don't find your problem, repost on this forum with what you have learned. Good Luck!

I have a dirt devil featherlite plus and all of the sudden it started pushing hard and smells hot. I cleaned the roller, changed the bag, checked the belt. The belt is a little wore, but not bad.

If it is pushing hard then you still have a belt problem. It may not be broken but the belt is stretched out too long and will not turn the roller brush fast enough to make it push easy.

My washer won't spin or drain

you will have to drain the washer no matter what. scoop out as much of the water as you can. carefully pull it out and remove the lower panel. if it is an old one, the belt could be bad. it could be a bad motor or a bad timer also. if the belt IS bad, you must determine if the belt just wore out or if something locked up i.e. the water pump. also just a long shot, wiggle the timer around in different settings and see if it makes an effort. if it does then you need a new timer.
