We just move & are trying to setup our computer. The ethernet and USB lights aren't lit up on our modem. Plus we can't get our wireless router to work, either.

You may need to reset your device and you will see a reset button at back of your router so all you need is to keep holding it for 10 seconds then unplug the power jack for like 1 min and then your device shall be reset. But please make sure to backup your all settings first.

How to remove battery from Motorola SB 5120 modem. I have cable with Charter - my modem and router are connected to my internet ready LG TV. I called Vizio (my router) to find out why I no longer have...

Did you do a reset of the Modem ? If not, look at the rear panel, there is a little button. Press it for a few seconds, you should notice the LEDS on the from panel switch off or flash. Release the Reset button and wait for the LEDS to light up normally again.

You may need to call vizio to reactivate the modem, but it should correct your WiFi problem.

Let me know if this helped.

Us light flashing after moveing modem to another room

Try power cycling it by unplugging the power, plugging it back in, and waiting till it reboots. If this does not work, and it is an internet modem, check to see if it has a router (wireless or wired) connected directly to it. If it doesn't, then you may have multiple peripherals or computers/internet devices attached to it that want IP addresses. The modem cannot give them IP addresses, so you need a router to do that!

5. Set the laptop up in the router by WEP KEY or MAC address. This set up in the "security tab" in the router. using or to access through a browser.

I just moved and trying to hook up my laptop to modem and wireless router but can't get the modem to work without the wireless.

When you move somewhere else you have to configure the laptop for that region's phone line.Go into control panel and into internet connections.Go to" set up an internet connection"This will take you through the set up procedure.THE IMPORTANT THING IT WILL ASK YOU IS YOUR REGIONAL CALLING CODEI.E. 0208 IS THE OUTER LONDON CODE.

Connecting more than 1 desktop.

This is what a router does. The wire that now goes from the computer to the modem goes to the router into the port marked wan. Then you plug your computers into the ports marked lan. On a typical router you will be able to connect 4 computers. They will all be able to get out to the internet and will be able to see and share files from each other. You should be able to find a router for $20-$40. Then you will want to figure out where to run the wires so you know if you need to buy cables and what length they need to be.

If you want to spend a bit more money you can go wireless. This will mean buyng a wireless router instead of a wired. (the wireless does wifi and still has the 4 wired ports) and then you will need a wifi network card for each computer. Most laptops have wifi built in so no need to buy anything for them. Wifi is nice as you don't have cables to worry about or trip over and you can move around the house. If you have a laptop you can wander around the yard. Very nice to go out and watch movies etc in the back yard some days.

So to get a wired setup you wil need a wired router, and two cables. For wireless you need a wireless router and wifi cards for each device if not equipped. The wired setup is faster and cheaper but more of a fixed location setup. The wifi seup costs a bit more, is about 1/2 to 2/3 the speed but gives you a bit of freedom to change or move.

Laptop cannot pick up wireless from modem

Is your Wireless router integrated in the modem? If it is not, try to unplug the router for a few minutes then restore the power and see if it fixes the problem. If it is integrateddo the same for the modem. Try to connect using the laptop. If it does not work use the laptop to scan for new wireless locations and make sure you see the home location. If you do not your wireless router is not working, If so select the home location and enter any Web Encryption Protection and try to connect. If your wireless router is not working, make sure the preference for the router has the wireless function turned on. To do this use ether the software which you received with the router/modem or internet explorer to access the IP address of the router. If your router is configured for wireless use it may be a bad wireless router.

Cannot connect router to arris modem

You will have to unplug your computer from the modem to plug in your router. Then you will have to plug the two computers into the other ports on the router. If this doesn't help. send more information on how you have it set up now, type of router and type of computers (desktop or Laptop, Wired or Wireless).
