I need to know how to move the main arm for doing mitres on the Dewalt power shop DW 1251

There are three levers near the top of the column. One is the crank for raising and lowering the saw. You need to use the other two. One is a clamp which you need to loosen about a quarter turn (toward you I think). The other moves up and down about a quarter turn. Move this last lever up, which raises a wedge out of a slot in the column. Now you can swing the main arm of the saw left and right. It is impractical and unsafe to use it swung to the left, so swing it to the right. At 45 degrees there is another slot in the column that the lever you raised will fit into. You need to finesse the postion of the column so that this lever fits all of the way into the slot. Now you can lock the other lever.
Good luck.

I cant seem to work out how to lift the saw handle on my powerbase xtreme compound mitre saw, 1300w 210mm J1G-ZP4-210P , is there a catch ?

there is a locking pin or lever located by the hinged part of the saw that releases the lock down position. Just put a little pressure down on the top of the handle to release.Do the opposite to lock it back down.

Dewalt DW707 compound saw

Did you sense an odd smell? Try removing the brushes, there should be two, it could be one is worn too short or the connecting wire is broken.
