I have the same problem. It was working fine up until yesterday. I tried to turn the oven on and the bottom doesn't heat up. The broiler is fine and the stove top works fine. There was no gradual decrease. Just stopped working all of a sudden.

My GE JGSP28 does not always come on. It is supposed to heat to 350 unless a higher setting is punched in. Half the time it comes on when a higher temp is selected.

    Any idas?

Same thing here, when I press the button for BAKE nothing happens. I put a candle under the gas pipe and close the door to see if it was the lighting element...but apparantly no gas is coming out.

I am thinking the electronics are kaput.

    Appreciate any insights.

First look to see if the ignitor is coming on. Most common problem is the ignitor is weak or just bad. When the power is applied to the ignitor it glows and builds up resistance to open the gas valve then it lights. If the ignitor is weak or bad it will not build up enough resistance for gas to come into the burner. One sign of this would be a "woosh" sound when it trys to light. If the ignitor is coming on but not lighting it is most likely the ignitor is bad. Should have a full glow. Also, if the ignitor looks whiteish in color this is a sign of it going bad. You can compare to the broil ignitor to be sure. If the ignitor doesn't come on at all will need to see if you have power to the ignitor. Let me know what you find and let's solve it before you rate the solution.

Broiler works but oven does not ge xl 44 model JJBP24BEA2WH serial LV201917P Is this worth fixing?

Hello-  Yes if it's the igniter for the oven burner. The lower burner may light, but if igniter is bad, gas flow will not increase, causing under-temp condition. The part is available for 40-75$, and is fairly easy to install. Part is accessed by removing drip pan at bottom of oven. Gas ranges last longer than electric if the self-clean 'function' is avoided. Go ahead and fix it!  Let me know if this info helps-- have more if needed.   Thanks-  Ed

Getting to the Pilot

Your model JGBP28DED2WH uses spark ignition on the stove top burners, and a glow bar ignitor, part number WB2X9154 for the oven and broiler. To get to the bake ignitor if oven will not light: Take the racks out of the oven. Remove oven floor by removing two screws at back of oven floor and lifting floor. Remove the square metal flame spreader to get to the burner / ignitor assembly. (note: The ignitor may still glow when you try it, but usually is still the problem)

Oven won't light

Probably a bad oven igniter. Remove oven floor then remove flame spreader. Turn oven on and see if igniter glows. If it does and still doesn't light gas, it's probably weak. Replace the igniter!
If it doesn't glow, remove and take to your parts store. They should ne able to check it to see if it's opened up.. If so replace it!

GE Profile Spectra XL 44 gas oven

If you can smell the gas when you turn on the oven, it may be on a separate igniter that has gone bad. I would check this first. If you are not getting gas to the oven, there is possibly an issue with the supply line.
