Question about Maytag Neptune MDE5500AY Electric Dryer

1 Answer

Dryer not dring clothes completely

I have a Maytag Neptune dryer. I have been using the sensor dry option. My clothes are not coming completely dry, sometimes after 2 or more times. I even put it on the very dry option. It seems like the dryer is running the normal amount of time or even longer. But when done the clothes are not damp. Even the lint in the lint trap is damp feeling. We checked for a clogged vent and there is not one. My husband said air is moving through fine. I have cleaned the sensor(even though I dont use dryer sheets). Any help would be appreciated.

As I stated before, we have already checked and there is not a clogged vent duct. The problem is somewhere else. I have done more checking and the dryer works finr on low and extra low settings. The problem is when i run it on medium and high temp settings.

Need to check your vent duct. if clogged it won't let the air flow through the dryer needed to dry your clothes.

unit has a thermal limiter. allows unit to reach certain temps that you have selected. this part usually comes in a pack with thermal fuse.

Maytag dryer not drying clothes properly

Have you tried cleaning off the sensor? Many of the newer dryers have a sensor that, when dirty, can no longer determine the moisture level of the clothes. Some manufacturers recommend using a light vinegar solution. Check your owners manual for location and recommended cleanier. Also, make sure your exhaust hose is clear of obstructions and that you vacuum out your lint trap area. HTH.

Matag NeptuneDryer MD5500AWW - intermittent heat - not drying

this is joyce
It is as you guessed your sensor. it is usually located in door but some models are in back of machine on inside, go online download document papers go to maytag.com put in model# and then download your model # and it will show you where your sensor is located, it should be simple to replace. I had the same problem with my dryer.
I am glad you said you checked the dryer lines because if these get clogged up they will cause the dryer not to dry the clothes correctley. very smart....if you need me to help let me know.

thanks,

joyce

My Maytag Neptune Dryer is not dring good, it takes forver to get a load done, I am sure it is a sensor, any ideas?

first off you need to turn on your dryer and go outside and see how much airflow if it is not standing the damper all the way open you got a stopped up vent and that is why it is not drying

Low heat, not drying

There´s a sensor inside that controls the temperature in order to prevent overheating.
Mostly they work with resistance. Oxydation can influence the resistance value, as like as some fluff.
Second option: you have perhaps not only one heating coil, perhaps one is not working.
