My 2 yr. old window Arctic King isn't removing moisture. No manual. How do I know if it's open or closed? Also, I have it on "auto" and doesn't shut off. Should it be on "Cool" instead? 10,000 BTU for 600 sq ft house. Cools beautifully! Humid inside house. Thanks for any help!

- I'm guessing a 10,000 BTU AC is big enough for a 600 sq ft house. It's been 75% humidity in the house for two days now, ever since I turned on the AC. It hasn't made a bit of difference. A question is, is the exchanger open with the pegs pushed in or pulled out? Maybe I have it wrong?

- Thanks for helping. I really appreciate it. I've looked for a manual and haven't found one, yet. The Model # is MWF1-10 CR. I have it set on these settings right now: Cool, Low EnergySaver and 73 degrees. Set like that at least it's not running constantly. But it's still not getting rid of any moisture. It may be in the open position and I wouldn't know it. In areas of high humidity, like here, I've been told you have to keep it closed or it will ice up. Does it not dehumidify on open a well?
Thanks, again,
Marilyn

- It is a window unit but I have it in the wall hole. I used metal tape to seal all around it as it doesn't fill the space.
I appreciate that you're looking for a manual for me. I would love to have one! I also have a Haier I use in my bedroom when this one can't keep up. Usually only a few weeks in July-August. No manual for that one, either. I bought both new but cheaper because they weren't in a box and no manuals. Now I wonder if it was worth it!
Damper, is it? I'll push them in and see if it makes a difference. I didn't want to do that in case it was the wrong thing to do. But at this point........!

- Thanks so much! It's a Haier HWR06XC3 Window Air Conditioner. Is that all you'll need? I don't undertand the buttons on that one at all! All this digital stuff. Anyway, I did try to find a manual for this one before and failed. I hope you have better luck. Thanks, again,
Marilyn
I'm not up to speed on your particular model/ brand. Just giving you some general HVAC info. Old time rule of thumb was 12K BTU's for 600 sq. ft. of conditioned space. This is just a general guess-timate. Don 't know about the exchanger you are questioning. Have you tried to locate a manual? Give me model and serial and I'll see if I can't lay my hands on one for you.
Just some FYI. If unit runs alot and area is humid, could be undersized. Approx. 25% of the cooling is used to dehumidify. Lots of cool air but humidity makes it feel hotter than it is.
I've been looking for your manual but so far, not luck. I'll keep looking.
If unit runs for long periods of time, it very well could freeze up. Unit will dehumidify any air that is blown over the cooling coil (evap).
Does your unit drip water while it is running? If not, it may be low on freon. Has it ever worked right? I am assuming it is a window unit and not a "Thru the wall" type.
The parent company is Midea-American. Their web site offer virtually nothing but sales pitches. Big waste of time. They work with Toshiba and Carrier but don't know to what extent.
I suggest running the unit one day with the damper in one position and the next day run it in the other position and see if there is any real difference.
Hope this is of some help. Good luck and I'll keep looking.

- Send my the info on the Haier and I'll try to locate a manual for that one too. Might as well while I'm digging for the other one.

We had our air conditioner for one year now and it is a Arctic King Air Conditioner, a small window air conditioner for a small room. It shut off on its own but the power button on the outlet plug is lit but it won't seem to work. We have reset the buttons and also the breakers downstairs, is there anything we can do. It is also run with a remote but even the remote will not turn it on, help please, very hot and disgusted.
