Question about Refrigerators

1 Answer

Moister builds up and water drips from the panel that covers the light bulb and temperture adjustments. This is a two door vertical Hotpoint. Freezer side is okay, but the right side (refrigerator) left-front side is very hot, too hot to touch for more that a few seconds.

If it is too hot to touch then it points to the motor working too hard and the reason behind that is the door seals isnt keeping the cold air in when it should replace the seal and the fridge should return to normal and the moister is from the air escaping, for example if you leave a ice cube out in the heat it starts to drip and loose temperature and then it melts and thats why the water is dripping. Hope this helps and thanks for using Fixya :)

Water dripping from freezer to ref area

I doubt its from the freezer as u think but rather due to one of 2 things? the evaporator drain plug line is clogged with food and plastic debris thus the water backs up out of the drain line, this can be remedied with hot water, a blow dryer and a soft thing tubing line to clean it out, the other issue may be a bad door seals which is allowing moister condensation to build up inside if u open the door and can slide a dollar bill in between the door and frame body then close the door and if the dollar slides out real easlily u have bad seals or if u can feel air seeping out from anywhere on the door seal?

I keep getting water at the bottom of the fridge, under salad boxes on my Hotpoint fridge

Red light on for High Freezer Temperature Warning
or freezer not cooling, but fridge is and a lot of noise from compressor.
Also, fridge drain hole blocked, water in bottom of fridge.

This is a common fault in Hotpoint Fridge Freezers and can also happen if the door has been left open or has been a power cut.

1. Turn off fridge freezer, or at least turn down the freezer temp to minimum, though not ideal.
2. Open freezer door and remove all drawers.
3. Remove the back panel on the inside of the freezer. This is held in place with 4 screws, which might be 6mm hex head or star allen head. Pull the panel out.
4. Behind where the panel was, there is a cooling element for cooling, pipes, and below this a temperature sensor. If the fridge freezer is not switched off, then fold together a few layers of tinfoil and wrap around the sensor.
5. Use a hairdryer to slowly melt the ice. Melt it around areas where it appears to be hanging on, such as the corners of the cooling element or bolts, as well as any thin sections below the main block of ice around the cooling element, which will be supporting the main block. Use a plastic ice scraper to remove ice but not near pipes or sensor.
Warning: Be careful using electrics around water & melting ice & drips.
6. Below the cooling element, there is a drip channel & drain hole. If this hole is full of ice, pour a small amound of warm water down, leave for 10 seconds and pour a bit more until clear.
In the fridge, clear the drain hole in the same way.
Warning: Do not pour a lot of water down, as this water drains onto a tray above the hot compressor at the rear of the fridge freezer to be evaporated by the heat of the compressor and the tray will only hold a small amount.
7. When all ice is removed, dry all moisture. Put the shelves back. Close door. Turn on fridge freezer. Turn up the freezer temperature to your normal setting. Turn on fast freeze if available. After 1 hour, check with a thermometer. It should be cold enough after 1 or 2 hours.

Csx22br freezer ice build up water runs out bottom of freezer

Your defrost drain hole may be plugged or frozen over. Open the freezer door and remove the lower shelf and basket so you can get to the back evaporator cover, and right under it is the drain hole. Remove what ice may be built up and pour very hot water into drain. It helps to have a syringe to remove the water and pour more hot water into drain. Then use a wire or other flexible tubing to poke into drain to clear restriction then flush with water.

I work at an apartment complex with hotpoint refrigeratiors. Several of them drip water from the duct into the lower part of the frige. I defrost and clean the drain hose but that only helps temporarily....

Have you taken apart the freezer and clear the drain pan behind the freezer wall where all the water origonates from? with the refrig off and all ice build up around that drain pan melted you could use some compressed air and blow the drain from their all the way through to the end at the drip pan by the compressor.

Hotpoint. Water is leaking from behind light bulb

The drain hose in the back of your freezer is frozen shut. The water you see is coming from the defrost cycle. Turn off the refrigerator. Remove the floor from your freezer and remove/thaw all of the ice. Locate the drain in the back of the freezer. It may be behind the back panel. Thaw the drain until water flows freely through it. Reassemble the freezer, and you are back in business.

I have a hotpoint refrigerator model CSX24XJ that was leaking water out the freezer door. I found that the drain was clogged and fixed this but I cannot find the drip tray. Does this model have a drip tray...

There is a leak somewhere in your defrost drain. Most times this is caused by a blockage near the area of the leakage. Below is a link to a very informative way to help you resolve the problem. Thanks.

Yes your model has 2 drip trays. 1 is below the evaporator inside the freezer and behind the back wall covering the evaporator. The other is below the refrigerator next to the compressor where the condenser fan heats the water and returns it back to the air inside your home. Thanks, Sea Breeze

Hotpoint fridge freezer green and red light on, switch offering 0

It could be a few problems to do with electrics, but try this first:

Red light on for High Freezer Temperature Warning

Have a hotpoint rsf60 fridge/freezer,noticed over temp red light on, defrosted as ice buid up on top shelf of freezer.light still on red temp set at 3/4 ?

The red warning light will not go out?

1. Has the fridge freezer just been
installed? If so, this is normal and the
light will go out when the correct
temperature has been reached.

2. Has the fridge freezer been loaded
with a large quantity of food? If so,
the light will go out when the correct
temperature has been reached.

3. Have the doors been closed
properly?
