Check the fuel lines for cracks/breaks. If they are o.k., then:

Youwill need to disassemble the carburetor and spraywith carb.cleaner. Make sure the small screen is free of debris.(Should be able to see daylight through it.)

Use a Den Tek Brush, (http://www.drugstore.com/products/prod.asp?pid=165357&catid=1152),to clean the small portals in carb. These portals canbecome blocked. Reassemble and start.

If the carb. parts are more than 4 years old, you may have to replace them.

If you need further assistance, just let me know.

Chokes and Dies when cutting

Adjust the choke or carburetor. In case your chainsaw stalls when the engine is idling, ensure that the choke is set properly. To do so, first try releasing it to adjust it, and then move the plate and tighten all screws once again. To loosen any grit, spray carburetor cleaner spray on the choke's shaft. The carburetor may also need to be adjusted; consult your owner's manual which will guide you on resetting the idle mix screw.

Chainsaw runs fine than goes full throttle all by its self and cannot shut it off with switch.

Kill switch is broken or disconnected. Throttle linkage is broken or disconnected or idle is set way too high.

My chainsaw will run only full throttle and when you let of of the trigger it wont idle it will die

Hey on the carburetor there is 2 mixture screws 1 is for idle up to 1/4 throttle the other is for 1/4 to full throttle the one for idle is closest to the engine. screw it all the way in then unwind it 1 turn. The screw the furthest from the engine screw it all the way in then unscrew it 1 1/4 turns Try to start the saw with just a little throttle. this setting is pretty standard. When you get it to idle then rev the saw and it cuts out as it returns to idle it's running to rich. Just adjust the screw in a little say 1/8 at a time. When it's to lean as soon as you throttle on it will stall. If you have no luck with this...you have a air leak from the carby gasket or the bolts are loose or a blocked exhaust

Stalls during idle

Try setting the idle speed screw CW a little (not the two jet screws) until the engine will continue to idle, but not turn the chain. If this doesn't seem to help, then adjust L jet screw about 1/8 turn CCW. Hope this helps!

I have a new hasky 460 rancher stalls when given

If it stumbles at full throttle, the fast (high) idle screw is set too rich. Using your owner's manual, locate the high idle adjustment and back it off in very very small increments. Do this until the saw will run wide open without stumbling.

Idle seems too low. runs great, when no throttle, stalls. maybe idle too low. no manual, need to know where idle adjustment screw is

If you haven't already adjusted the carb there are usually 3 adjustments. H - adusts performance at full throttle (how it cuts in the wood). L - adjusts performance at idle and accelleration to full throttle. It sounds as though those are fine. The third adjustment T - is the throttle or idle speed (often away from the other 2). If my saw that is the one adjustment I'd make. You supplied no make or model, it is difficult to provide what you requested without them. HTH

Chainsaw blade turns constantly, even when idling.

If the chain turns on the bar when the saw is at idle, then the idling speed is still too fast. If you turn the idle screw down until the chain stops moving, it should still idle well enough not to stall. The chain should not move at idle.

If you turn the idle screw down until the chain stops and it won't idle, then you have to adjust the low speed carb screw. Odds are if you back off the idling speed until the chain stops moving you'll be fine. The idle screw is usually the one with a spring under it to maintain torsion. Somes the throttle plate, the one with the throttle wire against it, will rest against a screw stop for idle control. This is the easiest adjustment. Just back it out until the plate returns more and the speed will drop.

Make sure it is lubricated and not clogged up with sawdust.
