Refridgerator Hi my fridge is approx 8 years old, and is now having problems, the fridge is not staying cold at all, but the freezer is still working, but it is meant to be a frost free but it is frosting up now.

We are having the same problem. Was this possible to fix for a reasonable price, or did you have to buy a new one.

We did unplug it for a few days then started it again. The fridge worked for one week, then quit again. The freezer and ice maker are still working, but there is frost accumulating in the freezer. This was never the case before.

Check the condition of all the door rubbers.the fan motor could be running too slow or the defrost timmer is faulty.if all that does not solve it check the gas level and compressor efficiency.

Sounds like you have a relay switch or igniter not working. If it is less than 6-8 years old, this probably,is the problem.

Fridge isn't cold

Hi,

if the compressor is running your ref. should be getting cold. Their is a defrost timer but when it is in defrost the compressor shuts off. I think you do have a leak.

thanks,

Fridge does not stay cold

If the compressor is running continually, could be short of gas , or a compressor problem, ie not pumping properly, make sure it has plenty of ventilation

GE side by side Refrigerator approx. 8 years old. Fridge side barely cold.

With your fridge, does the light go out when you shut the refrigerator door?
That could be your issue, that light running inside will create Alot of heat.
Also check to see if there is air circulating from the freezer to the fridge side through the damper. The damper is on the Fridge side left wall up towards the top. That is where the cold air gets to the fridge side. If that damper doesn't open that will also cause your problem, Let me know how you make out.

Kenmore Elite bottom freezer refridgerator

I just went through this with my refridgerator and actually posted one of the questions. Here is what I found ........

In the freezer compartment behind the panel there is an evaporator fan which pulls cold air from the freezer and pushes it up into the refrridgerator compartment. If the fan is not working it is one of three things.. 1) there is so much frost in the fan area the fan blade is stopped and cannot push the cold air into the refridgerator compartment or the air channel is blocked. 2) there is no electricity going to the fan (usually tied to the door switch of the refirdgerator compartment, and 3) the motor is dead and will have to be replaced.

Solution to #1 - defrost but there is another problem in the "frost-free" part of the system which must be addressed or the frost will return and it will happen again in the future.

Solution #2 - check to see there is power to the fan. (most are 110VAC but some are 100VDC. Use a meter and check)

Solution #3 - If there is power, the motor is dead. Replace the motor. Be aware that AC and DC motors are different and replace per manufacture's specifications.

Freezer works but refridgerator warm

you could find ice behind the back panel - worth a check. however the problem is probably ice in the return vent from fridge to freezer and the only way to cure is to switch off and leave for a day with doors open. if im right and you try this, if it re-occurs you may have a problem with the defrost system
