Question about Hitachi 51F500 51" Rear Projection HDTV-Ready Television
My TV power button comes on but there is abosolutely nothing that appears on the screen or any sound at all. The TV is on but the screen looks just like it does when the TV is off. There is no soud either.
It sounds like a component has burnt out, take it to a repair shop

Try Changing the input. It' on VIDEO and it's looking for a video input device, like a DVD player or VCR.

As far as I can see your power supply is damaged. This needs to be fixed at a local service location.

HI, check the wall outlet to make sure that it is live.if you are using a surge protector, i would pull the unit from the protector and, try a wall outlet. sometimes the surge protector will short out and, it will seem that the TV is the issue. if the protector is fine and, the wall sockets are ok, this will confirm a more serious issue that concerns the power sector inside the unit.
You will need to replace the power supply board or, fly back assembly in this case.
the only thing to reset is have the tv unplugged and let it rest for about 10 minutes, allowing it to cool down,if power still wont do, your unit needs servicing, have the power checked for output voltages that goes to the horizontal deflection circuits, hope this help, thanks for using fixya!

The problem with your television appears to be in the high voltage power supply or the low voltage power supply. The set tries to come on but the shutdown circuitry turns the TV off. The shutdown circuit is a protective measure put into place to prevent overcurrent and overvoltage conditions by shutting down the TV when these conditions exist. If you do not have a background in electronics, might I suggest that you have a TV technician to come to your location and work on the TV.
I hope this helps
