Buzzing and lines with Foxtel

Most evenings our 42inch LG Plasma (only 2 months old) makes a constant hum. Lines also move slowly from the top of the screen to the bottom. Every now and then they speed up, and the hum gets louder. They slow down again and the quieter constant hum remains. This tends to only happen in the evenings, never during the day. It also never happens when we watch DVDs. Is this a problem with Foxtel? Or is there something we can do to solve it?

    Hi

I have the exact same problems you talk about with the exception that DVD is fine. I have a panasonic plasma (2 months old) connected to the pace foxtel stu . The Goodguys sold me the foxtel recommended crest scart to 5 plug (RGB/RCA) component lead with the tellie. My initial thought was to select RGB in System settings of Foxtel , but this gave me no picture. A phonecall to Foxtel and they told me to select YUV, which gave me the picture but with the problems you talk about.

I got foxtel to come out and take a look. There solution was to recommend me using the standard scart to 3 RCA lead. They put it down to the component lead being faulty, even though I got someone else to try it on theirr TV, they had no problem .

I notice the problem is still there using the scart to 3 RCA lead, but to a lesser degree.

Any solutions? I don't think Foxtel care much as long as you have atleast some kind of picture. I can only think of going back to panasonic, but I can seem them blaming it on Foxtel.

i just had the same issue with mine and they want to send out a technician but i dont want to pay the $75 fee. can you buy the 'isolater' at shops or is it a foxtel device?

Yes, new in Dec 08, LG LCD 47inch when combined with Foxtel gives a hum. There is no hum with DVD. I already have a scart to 3 RCA lead set up so I guess I will try calling Foxtel about an isolator.

I had this exact same problem, which was continuous pink bands or lines that rolled upwards, as well as a continuous hum or buzz. This problem was isolated to Foxtel; it didn't happen with the DVD. Differently, this problem happened immediately I changed from my really old TV to a new LCD TV. I experimented with the leads (Scart or otherwise) too without change. So I got Foxtel to come and have a look and the guy brought with him what he called an "isolator" which was a small box-shaped thing (about 3inches by 2 inches) that he added to the cable's its exterior connection point. Immediate and complete solution - no more lines or buzz!

If a Foxtel technician comes to your home and does not immediately resolve the problem while they are there, then they aren't doing their job properly.
I know this because I used to work for Foxtel Tech Support.
Technicians are required to FINISH the job before they are allowed to leave the site, otherwise Foxtel won't pay them.
If any cabling needs to be replaced while a technician is on site, it is their responsibility to replace it. If it is a piece of equipment that requires a cost for some reason, then they will advise you of the cost and if you aren't happy with it, you can usually talk someone in the call centre around and get them to credit you back after you purchase it.
Part of your contract with Foxtel is that you must have a CLEAR picture of Foxtel only (not free-to-air, that isn't Foxtel's problem) and if you don't have that when the tech leaves, you should be immediately making a complaint because they are not living up to their end of the bargain.
If you call Foxtel for Support, I advise asking for a Team Leader if you get no luck with the normal staff. Tracy Bridges is usually the best on in the Tech Support Call Centre.

Buzzing and green line

A buzz in the sound usually indicates poor grounding somewhere or bad filter caps in the power supply. Lines moving up the screen used to be common in old tube sets, also indicates bad power. Have you opened up the back for a look?

Most likely your control board: The board with the large processor that controls most of the picture formation is bad. Sounds like it is under warranty if it is only a month old.

I have a LG Plasma Flat screen TV. I purchased it

With seeing the picture it will be hard fro me to tell what..I am going to guess according to the information you've provided.
It could a buffer or a signal board(s). This TV is only 4 Months old I would call LG and file a warranty claim. LG (800) 243-0000

Best of luck

Green vertical line on videocon 42inch plasma tv

Hello Depending how wide the line is their could be two possible causes.
I have two questions for you.
1. How wide is the line.
2. Does it run from top of screen to bottom of screen?
If the line is thin a single strait line then it is possible the PDP has gone Bad (Panel). (Screen). The screen will to be replaced.
If the line is at least 2 or more inches wide then its a buffer board which can be replaced. LG calls this board Hand insert Boards or display driver boards..

Problem is probably with your cable box as you have confirmed that the set is working by using the dvd player, that is unless you have a bad cable for the cable box.

Verticle lines on screen

This is a very easy fix. Your cable box is not grounded correctly. To fix this you need a AC Plug adapter. This will change your TV ac plug from a 3 wire to a 2 wire. This may sound funny, but trust me on this. I have fix a lot of TV in NY doing just this.24001fc.jpg
