Only 2 solutions I can think of, either the batteries need replaced or the charger is not putting any voltage out. Do you have a way to charge this with a USB cord? if so this will easily let you know if the batteries are good. If you have a Volt Ohm meter you can check to see if there is voltage coming from the charger. It won't be much so you will need to check the mil/amps. One internet method of fixing this is as follows . I also read that this does work in some cases, but be carefull and take your time.
Get a square 9 volt battery. Connect the battery to your lithium battery. The easy way to do this was using two sewing neddles. This is really better done with two people. Get the first person to hold the needles on each terminal. Then the other person lowers the lithium battery onto the needles. Please make sure you connect positive to positive and negative to negative. Hold this for about 30 seconds. This will be enough charge for the battery to hold and then the charger will work. This is a tested solution One more solution which is a little safer is to keep putting the battery on charge and take it off as soon as the red light comes on, do this repeatably 6 times or so and the battery can sometimes get just enough juice in it to allow the charger to work.
This is usually because the battery is faulty and needs to be replaced. Just to be sure, turn off the charger and then back on again. Put the battery back on charge to see if the error is repeated. If so you will need to obtain a replacement battery. Unfortunately, this does happen with a fair number of rechargeable NiMh and Lion batteries and many are no where near there expected lifecycle of 1000 recahrges.
Did you try new batteries? Sonmetimes the problem is with the contact points. Check for rust on battery contacts. If there is rust, try to scrape it with a suitable object. Hold the camera as such the rust removed falls out without falling into the battery compartment.
If there is no rust, check whether the contact points are bent. Put the batteries in and shake the camera slightly. Can you feel the batteries move inside? Then try to straighten the contact points.
If these steps don't help you, try using new batteries. If it works, the problem may be with the charger or the batteries. The batteries may have worn out and are unable to retain the charge. If it still doesn't work, let us know as there might be a more serious problem with the camera.
WELL, THERE ARE THINGS TO CONSIDER HERE. HOW OLD WAS THE BATTERY THAT YOU WERE CHARGING? IT IS POSSIBLE THAT THE CHARGER HAS FAILED ALSO. IF YOU HAD A METER YOU COULD READ THE CHARGER TO SEE IF IT WAS PUTTING OUT A CHARGE. IF YOU DON'T, YOU HAVE TWO POSSIBILITIES. ONE IS BUY A NEW BATTERY AND USE IT AND THEN TRY TO CHARGE IT AND SEE IF THE CHARGER WORKS. THE OTHER IS SEE IF ANY OF YOUR FRIENDS HAVE A CHARGER YOU COULD CHARGE YOUR BATTERY ON TO SEE IF THE BATTERY TAKES A CHARGE. I WOULD SAY IT WOULD PROBABLY BE BETTER TO BUY THE BATTERY BECAUSE YOU COULD ALWAYS USE THE EXTRA BATTERY, OR IF YOUR PRESENT BATTERY HAS DIED, YOU WILL HAVE A REPLACEMENT.IF THE CHARGER IS BAD YOU CAN RETURN IT FOR A REFUND OR REPLACEMENT FROM THE SELLER AS DEFECTIVE. MOST SELLERS WILL REPLACE ANY BAD PRODUCTS. YOU CAN ALWAYS GAMBLE AND RETURN THE CHARGER NOW AS DEFECTIVE AND GET A REPLACEMENT AND THEN TRY TO CHARGE YOUR BATTERY AGAIN. SO, YOU HAVE MANY OPTIONS TO CHOOSE FROM. I HOPE THIS GIVES YOU SOME IDEAS, BUT IF YOU NEED MORE HELP, JUST REPLY TO: ARCLIGHT1217
I had this problem a few weeks ago (i.e. flashing red LED). All I did was remove the power plug from the charging unit, turned it around 180 degrees, then plugged it back into the charging unit. Red LED came on steady & the battery (which is the one that came with the camera) recharged as normal.
Well. Ive got the same problem only ive gone thru 3 batteries trying to figure out what the problem is. When i plug it in to charge the light turns red , then within 5 sec's turns green. It stays green but never charges the battery. After 24 hours, its still a dead battery. Im just assuming since its 5 years old that the internal charger is shot. Looking for a new camera at this time.
