If you are talking about the crankcase vent hose... a very small amount of oil vapor could be considered normal. If it is flat out oil. Check your oil level and see if it is too high. Otherwise it sounds like blow by.
When you "hot wire" an ATV with a battery is the same as leaving the key on 24-7. This is not recommended..A good locksmith might be able to help you resolve your "switch issue"
BUT.. the brown wire and the gray wire(both are ignition switch wires).. connect them and you should have power
Trying changing the plug , if you didn't already see what type of condition it's in. Check to make sure you have spark. It may be your air screw need tunning.
