Sony NWZ-E436F won't connect, only charge

I washed my first of these mp3 players, so I bought a new one a few months ago. Suddenly when I try to connect this one to my computer, it will charge, but it won't connect to the PC so I can transfer songs to it. I have tried using the USB cable from the old MP3 player that got washed, but it's still not working. The player was not dropped or otherwise traumatized. I've tried reinstalling the transfer program. Not dice.

Any suggestions?
