Hi I have a sub zero fridge model 590 made in Feb 93 and fresh food side is warming up gradually. Freezer is fine and no ice visible on back panel of fridge. I read about vacuuming upper compressor and or evaporator coils behind fridge panel. There is no visible ice thati can see, ( i have not removed the panel yet) Any suggestions? Thanks so much.
Yeah vacuuming behind the fridge is a good start this will help the fridge preform better as when dust builds up on the condenser it will cause the discharge to be hotter than it should be making the cooling in the case not as efficient. i would start by removing the pannel in the fridge and seeing if any ice is on the evaporator

I believe the freezer has to get down to 7 degrees or lower for icemaker to harvest. Clean your condenser and blow it out. If that doe not fix it you will need service for sealed system

You do have a leak and it will be in the evaporator. So call a factory authorized company and have it replaced. The warranty of a Sub Zero sealed system is full parts and labor for years 1-5 and parts only in year 6-12. Sub Zero expects a lot of their service companies so it behooves you to call one. To find an authorized company go to http://www.subzero.com/locator/locator.aspx?type=0&zip= or call 800-222-7820

The problem is very simple when you take the panel from the refrigerator on the freezer side you will see Ice, you will have to melt the ice to see the a sensor that controls the d-froster, if you change the sensor that should sovel your problem.
Hi fridges will warm up on the outside as they remove heat from the inside. excessive heat with not extreme cooling inside the fridge indicates a possible degridation of coolant fluid or a leak. as the motor tries to cool the fridge the thermostat inside stays on as the tempreture inside has not been reached. if you hear the motor/ pump continually running this will indicate a cooling problem.
