Question about Garmin StreetPilot c340 GPS Receiver

1 Answer

StreetPilot c 340 does not allow to enter address

This problem has recently started happening. When hitting "Address", it goes to spell state, then next it allow to enter house number, after clicking button done it allow to enter street name then it momentarily then goes to a "list" that has that street on it. It does not allow you to enter City name, just displays street name, with no choice to pick correct or enter correct address. Only button back is active. Hitting "back" takes you back to the alphabet page, but touching the first letter of the state takes you back to the blank list page. How do I get this thing to take the "state" like it used to do?

Note: I was trying to reset advice, but it does not change anything

Re: StreetPilot c 340 does not allow to enter address

Ok, you've tried a reset, but have you tried a Master Reset? Doing this WILL ERASE ALL OF YOUR FAVORITES, but it may help. Turn the unit off. Press the "On" button with your finger on the bottom right of the screen at the same time. Release the "On" button, but keep pressing the screen until the unit asks if you're sure you want to reset all data. Press "Yes". See if this helps.

When I try to spell states it goes right to no matches found on the 1st entry

After powering up the unit and selecting address, the unit displays, "In What State is the Address? and Spell State. When I press Spell State, it has No Matches Found. When I press Back and attempt to enter the first letter of any state, the unit displays "No Matches Found".

My Garmin StreetPilot C340 is not allowing me to enter an address - when it prompts for state it's blank and won't allow me to type my state, so is my food screen, lodging and fuel won't come up. Yet it...

There is a small pinhole on the bottom or right hand side of the unit for reset. Try hitting this with a paper clip or pin. If that doesn't help you may have to take it into a store.

Cannot select another state on Garmin 660.

1. From the Where To? View Map, Travel Kit page press WHERE TO

2. Press ADDRESS

3. Press SPELL STATE (should be the 2nd blue box on the page & may read SPELL COUNTY)

4. Press the letter K and Kansas + Kentucky will come up; Press the letter T and Tennessee + Texas will come up, etcetera

5. If the information does not automatically appear, hit DONE and the information will appear. For example on my nuvi 660 if I hit the letter “A” nothing happens until I hit DONE.

6. After pressing the single letter for the sate/province in which you are interested, the unit will prompt you to spell the CITY name.

You will then enter the information as it applies.

first turn it on and let the unit acquire satellites to find your home state. Then you can set up your address as your "home location". When I first set it up, I was able to pick up the satellites in my bedroom (scary....)...everything worked just fine.

Getting started

Take the unit outside, so it knows where it is (you cannot tell it you want it to go from a location to another without being at one of the locations). Once the unit has a satellite fix, press Where To? Then press Address. When West Virginia and Spell State come up, press Spell State. Enter Florida (or start to, until the unit pulls it up, then press it). Then press Spell City, and enter Crystal River, then the house number and street name or number. Press Go! and you are on your way.

Where to only provides the state you are in--can't be changed

It sounds as if you have an older software. However newer software, don't press address, but rather press near... at the bottom of the where to page, and select"a different city" or on the where to page select spell, and spell a name that you know appears in the adjacent state, but not yours...

Good Luck, GB_C

If this doesn't work, upgrade your software, and try anew...

Garmin C 340 problems

I had the same problem and finally found the solution. If you go to "map Info" you will see the version of your preloaded Garmin map database. Well, look carefully because there is a box next to it. Apparently, it needs to be checked or "enabled" before you can use it. Once I did that everything started working. Why this isn't done from the factory is a mystery to me. This should be discussed in the quick start guide IMHO.
