Converting a natural gas Webber genesis bbq to propane. Can you buy a kit to convert?

Hello, Kevin -

Do you mean a Weber (not Webber) Genisis grill? If so . . . see the information from the Weber grill company regarding the conversion of a natural gas grill to propane here:

https://consumer-care.weber.com/hc/en-us/articles/360001730474-How-can-I-convert-my-grill-from-liquid-propane-LP-to-natural-gas-NG-or-vice-versa-

Bottom line:
The Weber company does not recommend it and does not provide a conversion kit.

Best wishes.

I have a kenmore ellite bbq model 141.16691 propane - I want to convert to natural gas, there is no conversion kit to make it but the natural gas model 141.17691 is exactly the same - just natural gas. If...

Many manufacturers make grills in propane and natural gas, but are not convertible from one gas type to another. The reason being safety. Each grill model, whether it's Natural Gas or Propane is tested and approved for that one specific gas type and that alone. Converting it would put all the responsibility on you, if something was to go wrong.

I suspect in part, the reason you want to convert is so that you want have to refill the propane tank any longer. But, you may want to consider this against convenience. Propane Gas burns cleaner and hotter than Natural Gas in an outdoor environment. Which boils down to lower high end temperatures, longer preheating times and the expense of running an approved gas line to the grill for Natural Gas. Not to mention the cost conversion parts.

But, the decision is yours to make. Thanks for choosing FixYa.

Trying to convert from LP to natural gas on my 36" Dacor grill. Is it possible? It is an 06 model and Dacor has told me that it can't be done, but the manual says it comes equiped to handle LP or...

If Dacor told you it can't be done, don't attempt it. It may have been OK, 5 years ago. But, something may have happened since then (a safety issue), that precludes it now. With that said, I'm sure there others on this site that will tell you it can be done. But, my 15 years experience in the Hearth and Home business, tells me, if the manufacturer says "No", it's not safe to do.

Besides, all you'll gain is convenience of not having to refill the LP tank. But, you'll lose the fast preheating propane provides and hotter flame.

Hope this helped you make the right decision. Happy Grilling!!
