If I need a Pioneer remote for a hard Disc Video Recorder I look at ebay first then the on line major remote suppliers. You can often get a good remote for $20-$35 at eBay the replacement places want $150 for not to mention many of the replacement remotes for older offered units are some sort of replacement unit which does not work as well as the real thing.
I'm in the process of repairing a Pioneer DVD Recorder remote it is done by removing five screws (including three hidden under the battery compartment cover) gentily separating the unit and taking out the soft pad. The contacts on the bottom of the pad were coated with conductive material so when you push the button the circuit is completed. Over time this material wears off so you have to push harder and harder and finally it does not work.
You can buy conductive paint on eBay and clean and repaint the bottom of the contacts which fixes this most of the time. Your fault may be a bad board in the remote but more often it is just the lack of a conductive coating on the bottom contact area of the button.
If you can't find the remote you need try to fix yours as I have noted it is worth the hassle. I recently found a remote for an arcane Sony MD Recorder for $2 at esale I balked at paying $65 for on ebay so if you are patient an live in a metro area with a lot of people donating to resale this might be another possiblity.
Is L2 for composite video (yellow) or S-Video? Try watching a video on L2 with the composite video plugged into the back of your TV, if it works, then do the same with the DVR, if that works, then run the DVR composite video into a receiver, then the L2 from the VCR to the video out on your receiver. It's possible that the VCR won't record anything that isn't an applified signal. That's what the receiver does.
I just bought the CH-DVR 1600
@ Target. This is just a temporary workaround to enable playing of
region 2 DVD disks (don't have other regions but believe it will work
also), until the real regional unlock is available.
1. Insert the region 2 DVD disk and close the tray.
2. Wait for the "Wrong Region" popup to appear in the upper-right corner of your TV screen.
3. The display on your DRV reads "STOP" at this point and the "Wrong Region" popup has disappeared.
4. Press the number "1" button on your DVR remote and a small input popup will appear in the upper-left corner of your screen.
5. Do not press anything else and the DVR will accept this entry as
a chapter # and proceed to this chapter to start playing the movie.
NOTE1: The DVR runs in a somewhat restricted node, e.g. the DVR
display still reads "STOP" and some remote functions do not work, such
as "Menu". The input numbers correspond to the chapters on the DVD
disk, so you can experiment and get to the menu once you hit one of the
extra feature chapters with a "back to the menu" link on it.
NOTE2: I’m anxiously awaiting the real unlock sequence, as I tried most of the old ones posted here, none seemed to work.
also try this -Switch player ON with no disc
in the tray. Close tray and press MENU, 1, and 9 on the remote control.
A menu should appear with the Region Option. Highlight the Region entry
and press ENTER on the remote. Type in the Region you want. (Put 0 for
code free) Press ENTER again to confirm choice. Press OPEN/CLOSE TRAY
button and put in movie.
I have 2 of these units and I had the same problem. There is a button on top right beside the one where you open and close the cd/dvd tray.It is marked memory on top and progressive on the bottom. You need to push this button one or two times and your picture will return.Someone may have pushed it by mistake. These are very good units and well worth whatever you paid for them.If you have more questions email me at firstname.lastname@example.org Jack
if your cable box is digital it should have the yellow, white, red rca jacks in the back run those to the rear a/v input on your recorder then cycle through the input switch on the remote until you see the picture. (i have the same model i hope you have better luck with yours...i can't record on any new 4x or slower +rw disc i had mine since 2006 i should've got a sony!)
I have the same model and it works wonderful, but you need the remote control to record. connect cable from video out on recorder to video in on you tv. at least you'll be able to play the dvd. If this doesn't work it's because you need the remote to set the date and time features.
