reservoirs are just that reservoirs. Once the radiator has been filled to the radiator cap and the cap is operational the heated expanded water will flow out to the reservoir . When the engine cools down the resultant low pressure in the radiator sucks open a valve in the radiator cap and sucks water back into the radiator the . If you have to always fill the radiator and it is blowing water out into the reservoir but not sucking it back then I would have the cap tested for operation or check for a leak in the cooling system or hose from the radiator to the reservoir.
When engine is cool, take off radiator cap, and fill radiator. Then fill the coolant recovery container to halfway between the full cold mark and the full hot mark. Start engine (with radiator cap still off) and wait for the thermostat to open (upper radiator hose will get hot). Shut off engine, top up radiator, and put the radiator cap on. Fill the coolant recovery tank to the full hot mark. You should mix the water and anti-freeze in a 50/50 mix before putting it in the car, you know. Cheers.
Yes but you should still see a radiator cap either on the radiator of on one of the hoses coming off the radiator. This is a closed system but still should have a fill point.
Your car does not have a radiator cap. You can only add coolant through
the overflow reservoir. It takes a while.
You have to fill it, start the
engine and run it until it drinks it in, shut it off, fill it again,
repeat repeat repeat. As a general rule, if you get to the point where
you can have it running for 10 min without drinking any in, and your
heater blows hot air, you are done.
Hope this help (remember rated this post). Have a nice day.
make sure the engine is cold, if you try to open the radiator cap while engine is hot you can get badly burned. get a container of coolant mixed with water, should be 50/50 mix. first open the radiator cap, which is at front of engine compartment near the center. roundish cap with 2 wings on sides. turn counterclockwise while pressing down to release cap. then fill to top with coolant mix. replace cap, turning clockwise till tight. then follow the small rubber hose from radiator cap area to the coolant resevoir. this container doesn't need to be filled completely, it has a full line. fill to that.
take cap off fill the radiator and coolant reservoir up then start the car with the rad cap off you will see it burp fill up wait fill up again/ thenafter its done burping you can put caps back on that should be it/ Please rate my response thank you very much
I do not believe that there is a radiator cap on the Focus. I believe that the coolant is filled from the what most would consider the overflow tank. It is an overflow tank of sorts but serves also to fill the radiator.
