I just bought this A/C unit today for $649.99 CAD, and it won't cool the room down...small room and I had it on for 3 hours, and it's still 32°C in here...taking it back to Best Buy tomorrow for a full refund. 'Red light is on' means that the water tank is full, as stated in the manual. Open the rubber plug at the bottom rear of the unit and empty out the water so that the unit can function. If this doesn't help, or there is no water in it, the electronics are probably messed up and you will have to send it for repair or replacement. Good luck...

One thing you can try is to hold down on the power button and plug the unit in. Hopefully you will hear a "beep". Then you need to unplug it for a minute and plug it back in. This is a known procedure to clear error codes from the control computer on units similar to yours, so it might possibly work. Something else you can do is download and look through the Users Manual for your model, which is at this URL: --> http://www.haier.com/products/product.asp?proID=1797 Hope this helps! ;)

I own the Haier 9,000-BTU Portable Air Conditioner - White. This is the second day that my unit has blow out air that smells really bad. I went to check my unit to find that there was a leak of some sort of chemical that smells like what is blowing from my unit. What should I do?

Your compressor is faulty, you could test this with an ohm meter or a mega tester to confirm that you have continuity between windings and earth or that the insulation on one of the start or run windings has overheated and broken down. Before you give up though, you can try to change the compressor capacitor, with same rated microfarad capacitor.
