Question about Whirlpool MH3185XPS Microwave Oven

1 Answer

Interior fan and light

I can hit any of the functions on the oven and the magnetron will come on and heat food or defrost. The turntable, interior fan and light will not function however. It started doing this randomly for a week or two but now they will not come on at all.

Re: Interior fan and light

Hidden behind the control panel is a mini-manual with schematic and wiring diagram. If I could see a scan of that, I could tell you for sure.

But since it cooks, on most recent Whirlpool models, this would have to be a bad connection on the circuit board. We repair these circuit boards for $39.95 nationwide.

If you or a friend decide to look into it, we have critical safety disassembly information at our site, linked here on Fixya:

My De Dietrich DME 101XE1/3 microwave oven does not work.

I'd check the door switches first. The primary and secondary ones must go into the closed position when the door is shut.

You might also have an open thermal cut out on the outside of the cavity. There is also one on the magnetron you could check, although it's les likely to cause this problem.

Avoid all high voltage components, as there's likely to be a 4000 volt charge on the high voltage capacitor. Unpleasant to touch, and it could be fatal.

With the door closed, the oven makes a buzzing sound. If I try to microwave something, the interior light lights, the turntable turns, the normal fan sounds while the buzzing sound continues. No heat is...

You can possibly have a bad diode and or magnetron. When working on microwaves you have to be very cautious of what you are touching there is a capacitor inside that stores a voltage and can cause physical harm if not discharged.

Ge spacemaker microwave jvm1640cj03 stopped heating. interior always clean. light, timer etc working.

If it stops heating and the other parts of the oven still work, the problem is with the magnetron circuit. If it makes a loud buzzing noise when you try to heat the food, then the magnetron has shorted out. The replacement cost for the magnetron is almost as much as a new oven, so it does not make sense to have it fixed. Sorry.

Micreowave does not heat items. Turntable, fan, and interior lights all work. Sound while running changes after about 3-5 seconds.

The magnetron has more than likely failed, "heats food" but also! the high voltage capacitor and diode can be a source of trouble, chances are repairs will exceed the cost of a new microwave oven.

GE Spacemaker Microwave 5 years old Model JVM1440WH01 The Clock, Fan, Interior and Exterior Surface lights work, but it does not heat the food. Over the stove model,

the magnetron may be faulty on this unit... the magnetron is what heats unit... there is also a thermal limit on this unit mounted behind the control panel and will require removing in order to check... unplug unit and remove two wires attached to limit about the size of a quarter and round in shape..check contuinity and should be closed... if it is then most likely the magnetron has failed... is a replaceable part sorta expensive and requires taking apart the cabinet and removing a few componets to get to the magnetron bolts/screws ... then hit the parts direct link up at top of the screen enter your model number and will give you a parts diagram check availabilty and price on your part....
sometimes cost verses replacement is worth buying another one.... but can be fixed... most magnetrons have 5 year warranty goes by serial number of unit or installation of unit if your the original owner.... good luck to you

It has power but is not heating anything

In order for a microwave oven to cook foods, its "engine" - the magnetron - must also be functioning. If the keypads, turntable, lights and all other functions are working but the food is not cooking, the magnetron has failed. Some local repair shops can provide a reasonable cost to replace, and it comes down to how old the oven is and is it worth repair or replacment.

Model #GLEB27M9FBB. Microwave interior light goes

Sounds like you Magnetron or PSU has failed, or perhaps it is just a sensor.
DO NOT try to repair this yourself.
These items MUST be repaird by an authorised person. They are leathal!
Take it to a reputable repair shop and get a diagnosis.. more often than not, though, it is cheaper to simply buy a new one. Oh get a warrenty too.

You can still use it, but must be aware that this is a relatively high power microwave, so food will burn if it isn't turned.
