I had similar problem with my 50HM66 , except it would stay on for at least a few minutes. I cleaned and vaccuumed (with lamp removed) as best I could, I think it's an over heating issue. My TV is 3 yrs old, have replaced lamp once, it did it with either lamp. When I put a fan to the right of the TV so it's blowing behind it, my TV doesn't shut off. Something to try...
i suggest checking the lamp. find you owners manual and go through the steps to "replace the lamp" if it is popped and you can see little pieces moving around inside than contact toshiba and they will send you a replacement with credit card numbers of course.
