DVD drives don't usually have drivers; they're accessed like a disk drive. You might need software to use what's on the DVD once the computer reads it - for movies you'd need Windows Media Player or something like that.

If you follow the link below you can download the newest firmware for this Blu-ray player . You need to put this file on a USB drive , Do a reset on the Blu-Ray player and insert the USB drive into the USB port on the player it should then do the update. Insert a DVD movie.
Open "My Computer".
Right-mouse click on the icon for your CD/DVD drive, and click "Explore".
If the hardware is working correctly, you should see a list of files & folders.
Search online for the free 'VLC' software for playing DVD-movies. Download it, and install it, to "play" your DVD-movie.
Open "My Computer".
Click with the RIGHT mouse-button on the icon for the CD/DVD drive.
Choose 'Explore'.
If your DVD drive is working, some files/folders should be displayed.
Are you using the free 'VLC' software to play your DVD-movie?
If not, search for VLC online, download it, and use it to "play" the movie.

I had the same problem. Try this. Contact Sharp and have them email you the firmware update. You will need to download it from the email and transfer it to the player via a flash drive. See if that works. I am about to return my Sharp Blu Ray player to Costco and go back to DVD. There seem to be a lot of problems with the technology. Even when movies start to play, they have freezes and it is sometimes hard to get the menu to show up
