Sometimes the obvious is that the dimmer knob for the dash lights is turned all the way clockwise forcing the interior light to stay on. Just sayin......

I've seen it more than once. Good luck!

Usually a sign the sensor in the latch has failed. The sensor is telling the body computer the door is still open.

SOURCE: dash light DRL stays on

Bad solders in DRL relay located left side of steering column below change drawer behind dash. It will be indicated with a stamp DAYTIME RUNNING LIGHT RELAY. Remove it and redo the solders to the relay contacts in the unit. This will fix the DRL light in dash, return the DRL system to functioning and will also fix headlight not working problem.

SOURCE: sliding door on 98 windstar- says it is ajar when door is closed

must be a break in the wiring somewhere and will not be a quick task to check unfortunately, sorry but you will probably need auto electrician unless you feel up to checking it all your self if so check the contacts with an auto probe to see where youhave feeds and where you have earths then check others till you see a break in the pattern or better still if you have or can get wiring diagram then follow it through.

SOURCE: 1994 Accord wipers won't turn off unless the drivers door is open

This sort of problem is most common in vehicles that have been in recent accident.Whats happening is the ground portion of the circuit has poor connection at one of the ground wire clusters.(honda groups several ground wires from seperate circuits into one connector that in turn bolts to the body.)what happens is where that common connector attaches to frame of car gets crushed in collision and or is left loose. One or more of these electrical circuits then continuously searches for its next route to complete a power loop, which is through the first ground in cluster that makes a strong connection to frame. this causes circuits to cross with each other. As in whats happening with your wipers and courtesy light circuits.unfortunately at the moment i dont have electrical schematic in ft of me for your car to be able to tell you exactly where that ground cluster would be located at.Most likely it will be located in the area behind headlights, behind inner fender liners, or along strut towers front or rear. But can promise that this is the culprit behind your problem.Good Luck,Joel

Door ajar light stays on as well as interior lights when all doors are closed

Most vehicle door open light works by a spring loaded contact switch. The switch body acts as ground. when the door is closed the switch depress disconnecting positive from ground. Seems that one of your door switch may be bad. Look for a rubber covered sitch on the door jam you should be able to remove the rubber cover to access the switch for a good inspection.

I have a 2003 ford tauraus and when i start the car my interior light stays on and the door ajar pops on with all the doors closed and car running and then it does it after i get out the car it goes out...

That is because the switch is faulty and is not operating when the door is closed.

Hence the interior light stays on(unless you switch it off manually) and the warning system thinks the door is still open because the switch has not been activated and therefore the open door warning appears.

Hence you need to have the door operated switch replaced.

2001 Sequoia, door ajar light goes off, but dome light stays on. Door ajar light comes on with slight pressure against closed door. Can replacing the door jam switch solve this problem? Why would the door...

To temporarily solve the light problem, I taped a washer to the inside of the door where the door hits the plunger on the light switch. A permanent solution would be to drill a hole in the door at this spot and put a self taping screw in that will trigger the switch sooner. I figured out the reason the dome light stayed on is due to the courtesy light timer and the lights would have eventually gone off.

2003 Explorer door ajar light stay on when all doors are closed

I had this problem on my 2003 explorer and took WD40 and gave the lock mechanism a good dose where it meets the clasp on the door jam. Then open and close the doors a couple of times to get them working. They get gummed up and sometimes have a tendency to stick.
