good luck with that one, best solution is to just start another account, same problem, got shut out because I couldn't give correct answers to security question 3 trys then your shut down for 24 hrs. my account had been tampered with by unknown & my info was changed, without password or answer to security questions you're just screwed & best to just move on

I have the same problem but can not even log in for the 1st time. admin and password do NOT work. And when I checked the ip address w/ the ipconfig /all aomand in a command prompt, I found that it has ip address 192.168.5.1 So when I tried to log in to that page, it prompted me for a user & password. Again, admin and password did NOT work. Also, tried 1234 for the pasword with no luck. Is this box defective??

Do you want to reset or remove the actual BIOS Admin password ? Have you contacted Dell regarding this ?

Try using the password as Dell ( only 3 attempts )

If this does not work, try the steps below.

Try to reset the CMOS.
Disconnect the computer from the mains supply, open the casing, remove the CMOS battery.
Reset the CMOS by using the jumper, replace the jumper to its original position, put back the battery and start the system.

Please connect the router directly to the computer with a network cable and switch on the router.
It will couple of minutes and your computer should have got a IP address from the router.
Go to command prompt :
1. Click on Start / Pearl / windows Orb
2. Click on Run (windows XP) / Search box (Vista / Windows 7)
3. Type Cmd and hit the enter key.
4. You will be in a black screen (command prompt)
Find the IP address of the router : Type the following
Ipconfig (and hit enter)
you will see the a number in this format - 192.168. X.X next to Default gateway.
Write down that number
Access Router page:
1. Open a browser window - Internet explorer / Mozilla
2. In the address bar type the default gateway address you noted down
3. Click on the Go button / just hit enter.
4. You should get a username & password request screen
Default ones are usually (unless any one has changed it or set differently by the manufacturer - refer the manual also)
Username: Admin or Administrator
Password: password / admin
In this screen you should be able to click on Wireless setting and there you can see your WEP key or you can change it to the one
you wanted

The a1b2c3 may be the 'password reset' code after which you must enter YOUR original password, which it hopefully still has stored in it's memory.
Otherwise the 'someone' may have changed the user password.

FYI: passwords are case-sensitive.

You'll need to try with an original CD or a copy of it. You can borrow one from a friend provided you use your own License please.
The XP CD you are trying to use is a counterfeit version & won't accept your original key.

well though the problem is not clearly stated i am assuming that it isnt accepting your password or username....make sure that you are entering that information EXACTLY as you wrote it down (you should always keep that info handy somewere) and be sure that you know that your password is case sensitive which mean that if you have capital letters in your password then you have to enter them with caps but if your pw is lower case then make sure your caps lock is off!

any password made up of five or more( LETTERS ONLY) will be acceptable on facebook,,mine was dave1610 and it worked fine and thats letters and numbers ,,you can not have any of these though /?.>,<\|¬`!"£$%^&*()_+=-..(only letters and numbers)

From any computer that connects properly open a command prompt window and type ipconfig /all and write down the default gateway address. Open up your browser and enter the ip address that you wrote down in the address bar. Enter the userid and password for your router and you should get the first screen for your router. look around for wireless setup, wireless security, wireless encryption or similar. When you find the right screen, you should be able to find the wep or wpa key code originally entered.
