The 2010 is a legacy KVM DSR, and you might not have the same features that are present on the 8035 model. the settings to connect to the 2010 with a NullModem cable are 9600, 8, none, 1, none (same as Cisco settings).

The 8035 comes with a special adaptor which is DB9 to RJ45 and it comes in the box.

I hope that answers your question.

As far as console logs goes, no such thing on the DSR line.

I just want to throw out here that for about $20 you can get the dsr-8035 and dsr-2035 adapter and cat5 cable custom build from stonewallcable.com. The part numbers are 210095 Eq. Equinox Modular Adapter (Product Code SC-3644), and 690226 Eq. Equinox Cable (Product Code SC-3142). Plug the cat5 in the setup port, the adapter on the other end, and the DB-9 end of the adapter into a serial port.

Also of note, the dsriq-srl is not necessary or usefull. I never got it working properly, and the required power supply is uncommon and expensive. Skip it, use the adapter and cable above and you'll have full console access from the setup port.

I hope this helps someone down the road, since 3 weeks and $145 later, here is the only working solution.

I cannot connect using serial console port (no signal / data out of serial console port). I don't have IP address of the DS4100B. I don't have its password... How can I reset it to factory default?

I am assuming you will still need console connection to do a password recovery.. however, here is the link to one password recovery doc that may help.

How do you connect to a terminal with avocent dsr8035

Hi there,

You should have a DB9 to RJ45 converter in the box. This converter is used to change from DB9 serial to RJ45, which is the port on the DSR that is used to connect to the serial console.

Should you do not have such connector, call Avocent Tech Support, they will help you to get that converter.

The NullModem Cable might also be requiered

top brand UPS like this and for sure commercial grade
my UPS has 2 ways to see logs.
one is with the APP called, (free) Powerchute at Apc.com
or i use my serial console port
i login there using PUTTY at 9600,N,8,1,No flow ctrl

and type status. or type help first
this is DOS like CLI , effect with PUTTY
I type eventlog (at CLI)_
and see all logs, Esc = end, space = next page.
there is 3rd way using APC cloud but I do not have that.(overkill for home)
I have 2 connections to my UPS ,ethernet and serial console cables.
2 ways in, and is covered in the manual.

I do have a HP Secure Web Console J3591A wich i connect to the serial port of my Cisco SF300-48 family switch. From my PC on my Intranet i do connect to the web page of the HP Secure Web but when i hit...

Circa 1998 hardware, (and soft) 19 years old. wow....
why post commercial HP complex system here
why not use HP forums, for this. there are 2, one is commercial.

all those words and no OS stated.
as you can see the RS-232 port does work and talk
so that should tell you why its failing.

you said this.
"hit Access Console i do see a kind(sp) of terminal window but i do not get any response from my Cisco switch."

the answer is , that which you just did, is failing.
Access console is not configured correctly
do you have the book in the software? if not why not?
lets say the books are gone, some are now this old.

learn to ask in the right place, that is HP , enterprise (commercial)

funny how the first question below, is asking for DOCs
that is first, RTM read the manual; first then ask for help
on what pages mean or with actual use.

first google hit, using simple question, model # software.
finds this

I need to connect cisco 2800 router to my pc through hyperlink

I think you mean hyperterminal? you need a cisco serial cable (blue) and a serial port on your PC, maybe a USB to serial adapter if there isn't one. Set hyperterminal to use the COM port you have plugged in to, speed 9600 8 bit no parity. (8N1).
Without the serial cable you need to know the router IP and password.

Can I use a 2700 router with Cox cable input? I have a 2700HG-D with "Qwest" logo on it; where can I find software so my laptop will recognize the router?

only if it has the proper IOS and hardware interface module. What do you want to use it for?
If you have a Cisco console cable (light blue ribbon cable) there is a console port on the router, and the other end connects to a serial port on your PC (or a USB to serial converter) using hyperterm set for the correct COM port at 9600 Baud 8 bit no parity 1 stop bit (8 none 1)
If you don't have the password you can crack it but it's complex.

Connecting laptop to phone KX-TA824 not reading COM 1 to connect

Save yourself the trouble and use the USB port :-)

TA's are tricky, I just order a cable for Panasonic from my supplier so I don't pay attention to the pinouts. The cable is a standard DB-9 Female to Female and it fits into my USB to serial adapter from Iogear.

You might just try a USB cable and make sure the serial port parameters are set properly. Change them, or make sure they are 9600,N,8,1 They are programmed in 1.7 of the maintenance console or via the programming phone in system option 800.

If all of that appears proper, it's probably time to look in the device manager of your laptop and make sure your serial port appears. Then, run Hypertrm to see if you can get SMDR. Once Hypertrm works, the Pana software should work.

Cajun P333T doesn't accept input from serial

All info from juliankov appears good.. but thought I'd add a bit of stuff I found on a web site..

http://www.tek-tips.com/viewthread.cfm?qid=300461&page=2

Use a console cable with following minimum pinout (the flat gray one with the RJ45- D9 type converter currently shipping with new P33xx switches will suffice): DB9 Console Port
1 ----------- 6
2 ----------- 3
3 ----------- 2
4 ----------- 4
5 ----------- 5
6
7 ----------- 8
8 ----------- 7
9

Obviously the speed is set to 9600
maybe stop all sessions & try to re-establish a new one. The instruction manual warns u can only run one..
