Re: dell speakers

Chances are that when you deleted Soundmax, you deleted the drivers as well. I am going to assume that you 'deleted' the "Soundmax" entry from your Add/Remove Programs console or chose "Uninstall" from the Soundmax folder in your start menu.

The problem is not your speakers. The problem is the audio hardware. I'm willing to bet that you don't have any drivers installed for your Soundmax audio hardware.

More often than not, when you uninstall the software for your audio hardware, it also removes the drivers for the audio hardware.

I would try re-downloading the drivers for your Soundmax hardware and reinstall them.

Soundmax Drivers:

I am also aware that this Soundmax chip was licensed to a different company by Realtek. (They designed the chip.) You can also try the Realtek AC'97 audio chip drivers. There may be a few differences in the way the software works, though. Here you go:

I myself would recommend the Realtek Drivers. However, I also have an experience with this particular chipset where I installed the drivers in Windows XP Service Pack 1 or below and they worked just fine. But if I installed the drivers in Windows XP Service Pack 2, the system just reboots itself over and over again unless I use Safe Mode and uninstall the drivers.

Instead of fighting with that issue, however... I just put in a different soundcard and deactivated the onboard audio hardware in the motherboard's BIOS.

Just a heads up on that...

Good luck with this. Let us know what happens if you need more help.

My speakers arent working and i dont understand why. It shows the green light, and says that everything is plugged in properly.

Have you altered volume level in the PC to Max??

Are they pluggd into the PC sound card port (Green). If so, go into control panel / Sounds / Sounds / Audio and see if driver is NOT greyed ouy, if it is then driver is either not installed or corrupt.

Simply download the mobo sound driver for it and install,

Alternatively you can go into device manager and delete sound driver / scan for hardware changes.

Hi, They suddenly stopped working, think I

Try another speaker set.
If this does not fix it, then consider the sound card if it is removeable, get a new one. If it is internal, turn off the sound and install a sound card.

I cant hear any sound on my speakers. i think i might have deleted the software. how can i fix this?

Is this XP? If it is, and you know you have all the hardware connected correctly, go into Control Panel, Sound, and make sure that volume is not muted. Hope this helps.

How do i reinstall my dell speaker? i deleted them off cp. my bad

The speakers are not the sound device, the sound card is. You ust select the sound device that is installed in the computer. If you PC is a Dell, go to and enter your service tag in the downloads section. download the latest audio driver for your PC and it should reset everything to the correct parameters.

Good Luck!

Getting Boston Acoustic ba735 to work with my Dell

Hi Tom,

I just got the dell vostro 410 and had the same problem... So I unpluged the digital cable, got a 1/8 male to 1/8 male cord, plugged it into the analog in on the back of ba735 and the other end into my headphone jack on the front of my system and the speakers work great again......... I have XP Prof. installed as os. Hope this helps... by the way 1/8 is the plug that is on the opposite end of your ba735 digital cable that plugs into your computer, just need a cable with that plug on both ends...
Good Luck!

I don't know if you manually erase those drivers, but I recommend you reinstall the drivers with the setup option, then uninstall them, again reinstall them ans see if work, or depending the OS if is Xp or Vista, ?

Left speaker not working

Hi Dellhelp, this sounds like a defective volume switch to me. If you're handy with tools and have a soldering iron you can probably pick up a suitable replacement switch for $5 and spend 30 minutes installing it. Or for around $20 on Ebay you could buy another working unit. I wouldn't really recommend spending much time or money trying to fix them and if you do buy another set you can keep your old ones for parts :) Let us know if you need more help and don't forget to rate the posting.
