Check your wiring. Sounds like your "out of phase" The easiest way to tell if this is the problem is to adjust the balance from left to right. all the way on either side should sound good, then move to the middle and it sounds dead. That's it. Find your speaker wire that has the + and the - reversed and switch. If this is not the fix, post a comment and I can help you dig some more. Hope this helps

How good is fm tuner reception? We live approx 50 miles from transmitters and have trouble getting clear signals. Is Bose just good sound quality, or does tuner provide superior reception?

I live in Vail Az about 110-120 miles from Phoenix Az I can pick up 60% of the stations decent. The power cord acts as a fm antenna. Plus this Bose Wave CD/MP3/FM

Digital frequency for tv sound on Emerson RP6248

You can't pick up the sound on this radio any more. With the new digital system, sound is digital as well and can only be picked up by a digital tuner. All this radio is good for now is regular radio broadcasting.

Don't receive hardly any FM stations

Well I would consult your manual.  Home receivers usually dont have the same amplification factors that a mobile unit does as far as sensitivity.  But for best results make sure that you are using the supplied antenna, and put aluminum foil over it.  This will help amplify the signal.  Also consult the manual as to weather there is a setting for DX or Local.  If there is, make sure that it is not set to local.

Function Selector Bypasses Input Sources

Hopefully this post isn't too late... That receiver has the ability to disable certain inputs. The easiest thing to try is to do a factory reset.
1. Turn off the receiver
2. Hold down DISPLAY and PANEL UP/DOWN buttons and press power.
3. All Clear should appear on the screen.

Unfortunately, this clears out all of the other settings on your unit. It should, however, re-enable the inputs.

Let me know if this helps!

Direct tuning

Unfortunately, according to the manual you can not directly tune a station.

Dowload the manual here:

and go to page 50.

Channel Reception

It sounds like a defective tuner or a IF module as well. It may also be a defective capacitor(s) or cold solder joints inside the tuner circuitry. I woud suggest to use a VCR or a TV convertor connected to an Audio/video input to change channels instead of fixing it.
Good Luck.

sony DA90ESG I have a Sony Receiver DA90ESG i have it for a while and its one of the best receiver i ever come across. Never the less i was playing it the other day and i heard a pop in the front speakers i was using the MD moode witth regular audio cables. I notice some of the displaying light were dim like it was not getting enuff power. After i check the wires ect i turned it back on the display said ' OK ' It was ok for a while and then the other day i was playing it again and the sound went. The same display light was dim and the light on the volume went off but the display was up. I tried checkng the wires and everything seems to be ok. After i left it off for a while and turned it back on it played for a short time and then no sound. I saw an unusal display it reds ' AC-3 RF' when i put the recevier on tuner the sign comes of but still no sound. I turned it off again for a day and it start playing again but after 5 mins the sound went again and the same display comes up again AC-3 RF' Could you tell me if it some thing that iam not doing or should b doing, or should i give it out to be fixed. PS When the sound chips out and u try to open the lever it just go up and down repeatedly at a slow pace and wont close, but when the receiver starts to work the lever moves freely and closed itself. It seems like a power problem not sure but any help will be gratefull dont want to buy ny other recevier. Regards Desi Wilmot desilee2000@hotmail.com
