I cannot reformat my flash drive..always indicating" write protected" what shall i do to through reformat it?

Hi sampagac ,

There is right protect switch on many pen drives , a physical write protect switch which enables you to either allow writing on the disk or disallow writing on the disk.

All you need to do is toggle the right protect switch and you would be able to write files on your pen drive.
Please find an image below for more information.
Hope this helps ...:) your feedback would be appreciated.

How can I remove virus from my Digital Camera coz it cant copy fotos to my PC? please do favor

Reformat the card.

Presumably you have a card reader, and presumably that card, when inserted, appears as another drive on your computer.

"Reformat it. Remove any data you want to keep first, but then reformat it."

That will erase everything from the card. Data. Viruses. Spyware. Everything.

If for some reason you cannot reformat it on your computer, then once again, copy off the data you want to keep, and use your camera or other device to reformat it; most have this as an option.

good luck

and so rate the solution if got help

Cant install any antivirus

If you have a virus which inhibits you from installing any virus software, you're in big trouble.
Try using an anti-vifus disk or CD/DVD made on a clean machine, by putting it in your CD/DVD drive, and running the scan and clean from there, to see if you can get rid of the virus.
Generally, this kind of virus will not allow you to remove it, and you will need to reformat your hard disk, then reinstall Windows from scratch.
Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.

Cannot open C: drive by double click

you have a virus. i encountered the same problem on a HP Pavillion desktop, its a trojan type virus that hides in your recycler folder, you need to run Avira Anti Virus, its the only one ive found that can get rid of it, you can get it free at or you can reformat your harddrive and do a clean re install of windows but then you lose everything on your pc. try running avira, if that doesnt work you may want to consider reformatting. the recycler folder is supposed to be in windows but the virus hides itself in the folder, im not exactly sure what it does but i know it will restrict your access to the c drive until you remove it, you cant just delete it either, it will show back up in like 2 minutes, also be careful with flash drives, removable usb storage, it will put itself on those drives also and infect other computers that you plug them in to unless you remove it from the flash drive then disconnrct the flash drive but be quick so it doesnt re appear on the flash.

Startup repair won't repair

It sounds like your leaving your Installation Disk in the drive. Take that out and run safe mode, then just plug in your flash drive as normal and it should detect it and you can copy your files to it. If not, use s CD and burn the files you need on them then you can proceed with Wiping the drive. If this fails, Install XP but there is a option to not have the drive formatted thus this keeps all files in tact. Reinstall XP like this, take the files you need and then reformat and reinstall XP and you should be fine. After doing all this, run a virus scan and have it run regularly because it may have been a virus that caused the problem to begin with.

Hope This Helps

I can not open my Flash Drive

Your flash drive might have caught virus or viruses that corrupted your files, thus, needed to reformat and can't be open...else, u can't use your flash drive anymore and may cause total lost of data in the near future....the only choice t continue using your drive is to reformatting it. But the consequence of it is the data that you are having right now will be deleted. Be careful for viruses next time...thank u!

I cant identify the prolem

It looks like you may have a boot sector virus. A boot sector virus is one that infects the first sector, i.e. the boot sector, of a floppy disk or hard drive. Boot sector viruses can also infect the MBR. All disks and hard drives are divided into small sectors. The first sector is called the boot sector and contains the Master Boot Record (MBR). The MBR contains the information concerning the location of partitions on the drive and reading of the bootable operating system partition.

When disinfecting a boot sector virus, the system should always be booted from a known clean system disk. On a DOS-based PC, a bootable system disk can be created on a clean system running the exact same version of DOS as the infected PC. From a DOS prompt, type:
    SYS C:\ A:\
and press enter. This will copy the system files from the local hard drive (C:\) to the floppy drive (A:\).
If the disk has not been formatted, the use of FORMAT /S will format the disk and transfer the necessary system files. On Windows 3.1x systems, the disk should be created as described above for DOS-based PC's. On Windows 95/98/NT systems, click Start | Settings | Control Panel | Add/Remove Programs and choose the Startup Disk tab. Then click on "Create Disk". Windows 2000 users should insert the Windows 2000 CD-ROM into the CD-ROM drive, click Start | Run and type the name of the drive followed by bootdisk\makeboot a: and then click OK. For example:
    d:\bootdisk\makeboot a:
Follow the screen prompts to finish creating the bootable system disk. In all cases, after the creation of the bootable system disk, the disk should be write protected to avoid infection.

Once the OS loads, run your anti-virus software and it should clean the virus.

Should this not help, I'm afraid the only other alternative would be to reformat the HDD and reinstall XP again from a bootable disc.

Hope that helps..
