If you have a windows disc that came with the system, insert the disc while the computer is on. Shut the computer down. Turn computer back on. Your computer should boot to the disc. Delete partitions. Format the hard drive. And reinstall.
If you do not have a windows disc contact sony to purchase a recovery disc.

How to factory restore sony vpceb42fx

Try this:
http://www.withsteps.com/275/restore-a-sony-vaio-pc-to-its-factory-settings.html

In this tutorial, I'll show you how to restore your Vaio PC to it's factory settings. In other words how to restore your computer to it's original settings (in the exact state you bought it).
For that you have to:
1. Back-up all your data. Restoring to factory setting means to erase all data and reinstall Windows, drivers and preinstalled applications. If you have a single drive (C:) you have to backup your data to external drive or disks.
2. Start VAIO Recovery Center. Click on Start button and then click on All Programs. From the program list select "VAIO Recovery Center".

3. Restore complete system menu. From the left menu of Vaio Recovery Center select "Restore complete system"

4. Start button.

6. Read the information on this new window, select "I understand" and hit Start.

7. "Are you sure?" If you made backup for all your data and really want to restore your Vaio as it was when you bought it you have to make sure that have it plugged in to a stable source of energy and press YES.

8. So ... next you should sit back and relax. Your computer will start showing the next messages
Shuting Down
Windows is loading files ...
Restoring your operating system
Please wait a moment while Windows prepares to start for the first time...
Windows Vista setup: The initial setup may take up to 15 minutes. Do not turn off the computer. Click OK to continue the setup process and wait until the "Set up Windows screen appears". Select OK

Sony Vaio won't wake

There are a lot of issues with drivers based on Windows 8 at the moment. I've also been playing a lot with it lately and have the same issue with my Dell laptop, Intel chipset. My only recommendation is to put Windows 7 back on and wait until late-October when all the manufacturers start releasing compatible drivers.

Would like to change to factory default settings after loading windows 7.

If your Vaio came with Windows 7 originally,(it has a windows & sticker on it) you can start the restore procedure by turning off the laptop, power it on, and as soon as you see the VAIO splash screen press F10 or SHIFT+F10 or ALT+F10, depending on your Bios model. just try any of the said key combinations. When the restore setup is successful you will see the windows i loading files etc... splash screen, then just follow the on-screen instructions.
But please be aware that IT WILL COMPLETELY ERASE ANY DATA SAVE ON YOUR LAPTOP, so be sure to backup to any external drive you may have, all your needed files, YOU CANT RECOVER ANY files after the restore or recovery procedure.
Hope this helps. Thank you for using Fixya.

You need to redownload all required drivers for the windows 7 Platform you can get them on sony website
Once installed all missing drivers or if you cant find them Download uniblue's driver scanner search google for it, It will let you scan and update all drivers and the program will do it for you saving you alot of time and finding those drivers many people fail to do .
