Question about Sony KP-46WT510 46" Rear Projection HDTV

1 Answer

Color Loss A Couple months ago our 3 1/2 year old TV firstly appeared to have a faded color hue. We tried resetting the color to default and nothing changed. Now a month later the color flips back and forth to full color to almost black and white and now it is just black and white. Are our bulbs gone? If so is this a fix we can do ourselves? What kind of info can you provide to help us with our problem?

Do a factory reset to this set, and then check. There are two methods to reset TVs. The first is simple to do; a Hard Reset. The other is somewhat skilled; is a Factory Reset (System Reset). To make it a hard reset, just unplug the TV from AC mains wall socket, and re-plug it back after 15 minutes or so. If you do this by overnight is better. This procedure will make it a hard reset. If you want to make it a system reset [Factory Reset]; you have to enter its service mode option, and select the factory reset option. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. Pull up older posts.
Service mode entry, adjust and exit procedure to many popular brand TVs are given. Never forget to exit the service mode, after all adjustments have been done.

The color on my mitsubishi model # vs-5041 is faded and foggy.

Hi, did you try a color convergence? I used to work in Best Buy and one of the key things about rear projection TVs and the reason they push those service plans on you is that the tubes/colors need to be calibrated each year. You can do this yourself by checking out the following website:

Hope this helps :)

Sony KP-53HS30 Projection TV has pink and blue hue w/timer blink

Depending on your TV, you may have a Color Temperature (Color Temp) and/or Hue setting in the menu. Use these options to adjust the picture to the setting that best suits your viewing preference.
If your TV has a Color Temp setting, you will normally have the following options to select from:
  • Cool: Gives the picture a cooler, slightly bluish appearance.
  • Neutral: Gives the picture a neutral, more natural look and appearance.
  • Warm: Gives the picture a warmer, slightly reddish appearance.
If your TV has a Hue setting, follow the appropriate step below to make adjustments:
  1. Move the setting to the right to reduce the reddish appearance.
  2. Move the setting to the left to reduce the greenish appearance.

Sounds like your coolant in the tubes need to be repalced. This is a common problem as the set gets older. Check with for the supplies and instruction guide.
