Question about Microwave Ovens

We purchased a Frigidaire cooker, electric oven, propane gas hob. It seemed odd that the hob rings take ages to boil a pan of water, cooking with oil is extremely difficult as it takes way too long to get the oil hot enough. We bought a portable barbecue grill for the yard and the single ring burner on this $200 appliance boils a pan of water in a fraction of the time our $1000 range takes. Is this to do with the way the hob was set up with the gas / air mixture? Please advise, Thanks in advance, Andrew Pennington

The general rule for cooking rice whether its in a rice cooker or a deep pan is to rinse the rice three times, put the same amount of water in the cooker (1 cup water to 1 cup rice). Turn on the cooker, let the rice cooker complete its cycle. Let the rice sit in the cooker for 10-15 minutes to steam. Serve.
You can vary the amount of water depending upon whether you want drier or moister rice. Enjoy.

if you put a 10 cups of a rice rinse it first before you add a water , the measure of the water is equivalent of the cup of the rice.now,put 10 cups of water. then put it on the rice cooker, then press rice cooking, it is automatically turn to "keep warm" after it's getting boiled. wait for about 45mins of cooking.thanks.

I have a problem with both my kuppersbusch ceramic gas hob GKE9851.OM 5 burner which has one burner that only lights on high and will not be turned down and my oven is one of those opthelmic or whatever...


unfortunately the oven is like a non stick fry pan
It still needs you to wipe over the surface after use
make a habit of using oven bags for cooking fatty foods as that saves the cleaning
as for the hob problem , get in a technician to fix the fault

The slow cooker works by heating the food up to around 85 degrees Celcius and should not boil. If you have it hot enough to boil place a tooth pick under the glass edge. That will let the steam out.

Hi I have had my RONSON slow cooker for a number of years @ I have lost my instruction manual @ would like to know what the dial numbers are ONE for LOW, TWO for HIGH, but what is AUTO for Cheers


Auto might be "Keep warm", but my wife uses it to cook and says that water will boil on Auto. Try putting an oven thermometer in and see what temp it gets to, and then you'll know exactly how your slow cooker is behaving.

I have a new induction cook top. When using for the first time I found an F or P appeared next to the element I was using. I have bought stainless steel cookware specifically to use. The user manual...


Stainless steel (or Aluminium) cookware will not normally work with an Induction cooker: Induction cooker need cookware that have a certain amount of metal especially at the bottom of the pot or pan.

An easy way to check if the cookware is suitable is to use a small (fridge) magnet: if it stick to the pot/pan then it is very likely that the pot/pan is suitable for induction 'magnetic' cooking!

I just put two frozen hot dog buns wrapped in paper towels in the microwave for 30 sec. After 15, I noticed they were on fire! HOW and WHY? Is it the end of my Frigidaire Microwave?


If the cooking cavity wasn't damaged by the fire then the oven is still okay. The reason for the fire is that water absorbs microwaves very readily. The buns, being frozen, wet the towels as they thawed. Then the towels boiled dry and ignited from the heat. Most microwave oven owner's manuals warn against drying items in the oven for this reason.

i once had a similar problem. look at where microwaves enter the oven chamber and look for some sort of food splatter screen. possible the splatter has accumulated over time. mine was baked on so I actually boiled it out in a pan of boiling water. problem cured.
