There is no programming on this radio. With power and an antenna connected, turn the power on and you should see a channel number in the display. Turn the volume up about 1/4 of the way, and turn the squelch down. You should hear either transmissions or noise. If all you get is silence, the receiver section is "fried." If the unit does not power up at all (no lights/displays at all) then you most likely have a blown fuse - a simple fix.

I cant seem to be able to program a frequencies into my scanner. I have a list of local frequencies but the numbers are to large to enter into the scanner to accept. it only holds up to six numbers but...

Frequencies in the range you mention may be part of a trunked system that your scanner cannot follow, but you can still enter and monitor the frequency. Yes, your BC340CRS will handle frequencies with up to five decimal places, as long as the last two digits are 25, 50, 0r 75 (see page 16 of the BC340CRS Owner's Manual). The best programming instructions for your scanner are also in that manual. If you don't have a copy, you can download and print it, at no cost, here:

I HAVE A UNIDEN BC80XL HAED HELD SCANER RADIO. MAYBE IM STIPID BUT I CANT GET IT PROGRAMED FOR ANY FREQ. i NEED SOME REALL HELP THANKS

Your first step is to compile a list of active frequencies in your area. You can find a very good database at:
www.RadioReference.com

Next, mark or highlight the frequencies that you want to program, making sure that they will work with your scanner. See your scanner manual for a list of covered frequency ranges. The BC80XLT will hold 50 frequencies.

Once you have the desired frequencies, you're ready to begin:

- Power the scanner ON.
- Press the MANUAL key.
- Enter the channel number that you want to program (01 - 50). If you're going to program the entire scanner for the first time, start with channel 01.
- Press the MANUAL key.
- Use the keypad to enter the desired frequency, including the decimal point (e.g., 146.075). Zeros at the end of the listed frequency need not be entered (e.g., 805.25000 should be entered as 805.25).
- Press the E key to save your program information.
- Press MANUAL to advance to the next channel, then start by entering the frequency.

More detailed instructions are in the factory manual. If you don't have a copy you can download and print it, at no cost, here:

Im trying to program my Pro-70 Hyperscaner

To program a known frequency into your PRO-70:

- Press PGM. PGM appears on the display, indicating that the scanner is in programming mode.
- Enter the number of the channel that you wish to program (1 - 50), then press PGM again. As an alternative, press PGM repeatedly until the desired channel number appears on the display.
- Enter the desired frequency, including the decimal (for example, 156.045).
- Press E/L-OUT to store the frequency.
- Repeat steps 2 - 4 to program another frequency.

Your scanner's operating manual has details on other programming steps. If needed, you can download/print the manual here:

Cant seem to get it to pick up local frequencies

Can't really diagnose the problem without more information, but make sure that your antenna is connected properly and that you've programmed frequencies that are active in your area. For a quick function check, program the frequency 162.55, 162.4, 162.475, 162.425, 162.45, 162.5, 162.525, 161.65, 161.775, or 163.275 into your scanner. One of them, probably the first one, will be the primary weather frequency in your area. If the scanner picks up the weather broadcast you'll know that it's working.

Cannot for the life of me figure out how to program this!

You need to obtain local frequency numbers for your area.
google search, "radio frequencies" and you county, city name...it'll give you lists of frequencies to enter into your scanner..
Your user manual should show you the step by step with which buttons to push... are you having difficulty entering the frequency numbers?

Ok doc, I'll see if I can walk you thru this as there don't seem to be a manual available for download.
* Push manual button and bring it around to channel #1
Enter the freq including the decimal point. Push the E button to enter the freq into the first channel.
* Push manual again and move to channel #2 and repeat.
If you need some new freq's for your area, go here, click on your state, county, and it'll give you a complete rundown.

If you need 10 codes for your area, go here and click on your state.
