Slow computer shutdown

Tip #1: Cut down of the programs and processes running in the background.--When you start your computer many unnecessary processes are loaded. You can eliminate this by managing your msconfig.

Here is how:
1. Open your Start menu.
2. Click Run
3. In the command screen type "msconfig.exe"
4. In the system configuration utility, click either service or startup tab.
5. Uncheck all programs that your are no longer want to run in the background.
6. Click OK

Tip #2: Defrag your Computer--The faster your computer can find files the quicker it can shutdown. A very slow computer shutdown can be the result of your hard drive trying to search for disorganized and fragmented files that it needs for shutdown . Organize your hard drive by performing a defragmentation.
Here is how:
1. Open the Start Menu
2. Click on My Computer
3. Right Click your C: drive or your hard drive image.
4. Scroll down to the Properties and Click
5. In the Properties Menus, Open the Tools menu.
6. Choose Defragment Now.
7. In the Disk Deframenter menu. Click on Defragment

Tip #3: Clean your Registry- Usually slow computer shutdown often occurs due to a corrupted registry. You should perform a registry clean, use RegInOut to fix this issue instantly.

1. Reboot your computer.
2. Press Ctrl+Alt+Del on your keyboard. This will bring up the Windows Security window. Click the "Task Manager" button and then click the "Task Manager" tab.
3. You will see a list of files/applications. These are the applications running in the background on your system, whether they show on your taskbar or not. Any one of these applications could be causing a conflict with the Yahoo! Messenger installation.
4. Click the top item on the list to highlight it. Then hold the "Shift" key down and click the last item on the list. This should highlight the whole list.
5. Click the "End Task" button. This will temporarily close all background applications on your system.

My pc is slow work

it it is xp the follow the following steps
When you start to shut down Windows XP, it has to quit, or "kill," any live
applications or processes that are currently running. So close all applications first.
However, some applications and processes are always running in the background.
You can reduce the amount of time that Windows XP waits for those applications and
processes to close before Windows XP kills them.
1. Open registry editor
2. Navigate to HKEY_USERS\.DEFAULT\Control Panel\Desktop. Set the
WaitToKillAppTimeout and set the value to 1000. Select the HungAppTimeout
\newline value and set it to 1000 as well.
3. Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Control.
Select the WaitToKillServiceTimeout value and set it to 10000.
4. Close the Registry Editor.

Memory Tweak
1. Start Registry Editor (Regedit.exe) and locate the following key in the registry:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\SessionManager\
MemoryManagement\PrefetchParameters
2.On the EnablePrefetcher value, change the setting from 3 to 5 (decimal).
3. Close the registry editor and restart your computer

Slow start...

Hello there...

Keep in mind this
1) OS ?
2) How you format your HD. FAT32? or NTFS? how many times?
perhaps you got a bad sector on your HD.
3) verify your CMOS, if you enable 32 enhance mode.
4) Check if you do a quick format? or regular format (takes long)
example: on C: Format C:
5) Antivirus you got? Norton 360? Avg? this could sometimes slow down a bit the systems, and resourses.
6) Memory problems? check
7) Your pagefile? on advance setting in SYSTEM, control panel. put in ( let windows decide...)
thats it
happy nice time

Toshiba's slowness

The svchost.exe is the executable file that runs the direct link libraries to all the services that are running in the background, so if you know what services you need and don't need you can click on them and stop them from running in task manager, but they will start up again when you restart the pc.
