Check the following to address this issue.

1. No power to the dryer
Make sure there's power getting to the dryer. Check for tripped circuit breakers or blown fuses. An electric dryer uses two circuit breakers or fuses, and if only one of two is tripped or blown, the dryer might still run but not heat. Sometimes the power cord disconnects or burns at the dryer, if this is the case, the wiring and the terminal block must be repaired or replaced.

2. Heating element
A burned out heating element will show no continuity when measured with a meter. Replace the element if found defective.

3. Thermal fuse
Most dryers have a thermal fuse, which burns out when the dryer overheats, in which case the dryer will either not run at all or stop heating. The fuse is usually located on the vent duct, inside the dryer. A blown fuse will show no continuity when measured with a meter. Before replacing the fuse, make sure the blower wheel is not broken or clogged, and there is nothing blocking the venting....

I have a Whirlpool duet washer and dryer. The dryer is not working well. the ligts come on and it spins but it doesn't dry the clothes, what can the problem be?

Is it heating or not? Is this gas or electric? The first thing to check is your vent and clean the lint filter. Then you should check the heating element and the thermal fuses if it is not heating (assuming electric). If it is heating and you're not getting dry clothes then your venting must have issues. Good luck.

My Whirlpool clothes dryer model GEW9200LW0 stopped drying completely. The drum turns but no heat. It began slowing down the heating process approx. 2 years ago. Any suggestions?

Electric Dryer Does Not Heat
  • If your Whirlpool electric dryer is having trouble heating, you should check all of the thermostats, the thermal cut-off, all fuses and the electric heating element for continuity and proper connection.

The dryer keeps shutting off after very few minutes (and it has no heat). sat and watched it and it is stuck on the "sensing" cycle. Tried timed dry and it stayed on the full 20 mins - but clothes still...

Hi,
This sounds like you have a bad heating element. Double check the breakers and make sure that one side of the double breaker has not tripped. If you have meter and know how to use it check for 220v at the outlet. If I can be of further assistance please let me know.
