Some batteries such as alkaline use a chemical reaction to create energy, these batteries typically do not supply very much current.

Flash cycle time may be longer.

As far as common batteries go, Lithium would be the fastest, followed by NiMH.

If it's still slow, buy a new camera and or external flash (imaging-resource.com is a good resource)

Starting Problem

Fully charge the battery and see if it starts like it should. If your battery is fully charged, but still turns over slowly, its your starter. If using a fully charged battery solves your problem, its your alternator.

My 1993 cadillac eldorado is cranking slow and i just change the alternator

If the battery is fully charged but the starter is slow, the starter may have an internal short or may just be worn out. Make sure your battery is fully charged and the battery terminals are clean and tight though before buying a new starter.

My camera is very slow to take pictures, and the quality is poor, even with the battery fully charged. It is the original battery and I have had the camera for about 2 years. Do I just need a new battery?

Maybe you need a new battery. Is your memory card loaded with a lot of pictures? If so, download them and format the card in the camera. Do you press the shutter half-way and allow the camera to lock in the focus before pressing the rest of the way?

I charged my Duracell 2400 mAh batteries for 15 minutes, and I was able to shoot only 10 pictures with them in my digital camera before they went dead. What is the problem here? I repeated the process with...

your lucky then,,, they take 16 hourse to fully charge unless you rapid charge them? a nasty thing to do to a new battery? all ways slow charge them first,,
never fast charge any battery only charge at whats called "the C10 rate!" they live much longer that way,
in other words slow charge when first charge,,,faster after that! ok,, did you not know you must "form the cells first" before you use them?

the battery's are most likely dead, (like the real dead) after many uses of rechargeable battery's they slow stop holding charge at all, make sure when you get a new rechargeable battery you fully charge it once and fully discharge it once this will increase batterys life time

Picture display is slow

Some thoughts...make sure the battery is fully charged...set the quality of the pictures to a lower level...make sure the card is not overly full of previous pictures...use a faster card.

Some possible causes: a slow card...purchase one rated for faster speed. Picture quality level set to highest level...pictures look great but take time to process. Some brands of cards are slow, especially the cheap ones. Stick with the big names. If your card is full of pictures, it will be slow.

Have your starter checked. Once it goes bad it drains your battery very quickly when trying to start vehicle.

Slow or fast charge

Yes, the amperage your charging at determines charging time. The higher the amperage, the faster it charges. Your battery is rated in mAh or milliamp hours. One Ah means the electric charge transferred by a steady current of one ampere for one hour. A mAh would be 1/1000th of an amp for one hour. If your battery is a 1500mAh battery it means 1.5 amps for one hour. This charge current should not exceed the rating of the battery. It would cause possible excessive heating and possible a fire or explosion, especially on newer more volatile batteries like lithium polymer batteries. The life of the battery charge when fully charged will be similar no matter how you charged it, but slower, lower amperage charges will maintain your battery better than quicker, higher amperage charges and help extend it's life to its potential.
