Question about HP xb3000 (417329-001) Docking Station

1 Answer

I've had my HP pavilion connected to an HPxb3000for 16 mos with no problems. Today out of the blue a very loud ta ta ta sound emitted regardless if vol. control on or off. Then the screen began displaying a running uuuuu, on my foxfire screen or word processing pages. I've unplugged, rebooted etc. It does not happen when I use laptop independently. also the noise has not continued. Please help.

Try looking on the keyboard to see if a key is stuck. I am presuming that you have a wireless keyboard. Also unplug the module that is plugged into the xb3000 - see if the running u stops in firefox.

How can I increase the loudness of the CDs burned on the internal CD-RW drive?

You can use a free software audio editing and recording program called Audacity. Using this program load your stereo track(s) into Audacity, then look in the effects menu and select normalize. Make sure to set highest loudness level to 0 db, which is the maximum digital volume level. You can hear the difference in volume when you use the test button. If you can't still get enough over all volume level with the normalize feature then you will need to compress and limit the stereo track, but I don't suggest getting your over all loudness levels that high because it ruins and lowers the dynamics of your music. Another words when you compress and boost the over all loudness of your album then all your music is at the same highest audio level which is very ear fatiguing. It may sound better to you at first at louder volume levels but you will quickly learn to hate it over time because it does not sound natural. That is why most music today is all about loudness and ear fatigue. And because of the loudness wars going on today every Record company is trying to have the loudest album out there thinking it will sell more copies. It is all false baloney, it really should be about the quality and dynamics of your sound instead of how loud it is.

No picture no sound loud humming sound for a short period when you turn it on than a orange light flashing at bottom where the blue light is when you turn it on.

AV cables reversed perhaps. Sounds like VIDEO (Yellow, Green, Blue or Red) cable is plugged into the AUDIO section. Perhaps you have switched the RED (Left audio) cable plugged into the RED (Component) Video cables. This would account for the loud buzz and since the set isn't getting an image it goes into standby mode. Just a thought.

I installed a new 12-cell battery yesterday and can't get the lap top to power up today. There is a slight flicker of blue light on the charging icon (thinderbolt) when I hit the on button.

try unplugging the battery and starting up with just the cord if that works charge the battery for 16 hours for a initial charge if after the 16 hour charge it does not work call the company because you have a bad battery

Hi, I have an HP Pavilion and I am unable to switch it on

Is there a flashing light on the back? This sounds like the PC power supply has gone bad, either test with a similar PS or purchase a new one.

My speaker is muted - no sound on my HP Pavilion zv5

This sounds as though there may be a problem with the driver for the sound card within the computer.

If you enter the device manager (found in control panel) you can update the drivers for this device from within there :o)

Hi!

This is a phisical hardware problem with the screen.
If the system is under warranty better take back so your vendor replace the screen.

I think is the only solution.

This is a progressive problem, day a day you will be seen more and more lines until the screen become death.

Emits a loud hum or rumble sound.

This problem is usually because of grounding.

If you look at the power lead, you will notice it is the regular "kettle plug" shape, but it only has two pins (live and neutral). There is no earth connector.

You have to ground the sub to your receiver. This is done by running a RCA connector connected to one of the unused connections to the amp.

However, this doesnt ALWAYS solve your problem. As in my case. I have a Pioneer 7.1 receiver, which is ALSO not grounded. so running a spare RCA cable has no effect. What I have done is wired a RCA connecter to a copper cable and connected the other end to the Earth pin on a 3 prong plug. This is plugged in to a wall socket, thus grounding the sub.

It's not a solution the manufacturer will suggest, but it seems to work for me.
